I bet at one point or another all of the following has entered your mind:
1.) You’re creating your "survival plan" for future events and find yourself confused by what kind, or how much survival food you might need to have on hand?

Now, even as short a time ago as the early 1990's it was kind of an easy decision.
You could choose crappy quality MRE's right from the government surplus stockpiles. Filled with some of the nastiest, gross and chemical laden "food" that they could force into a foil packet.

Start canning and bottling your own stuff from scratch… if you happened to know how to do that.
That was it, and neither of them was a good solution over the long term.
But the times they have changed! Now there seems to be an almost endless array of "survival foods" popping up all over the place, so now there are a lot more choices… but are any of them really better than before? It turns out the answer is "yes" and we'll discuss those options in just a second.

What we found was at once interesting and a little mind blowing. There are no less than 15 companies touting their survival foods in the market right now.
So with some important criteria in mind we started our comparison. We were looking for taste, quality and nutrition, price and (very importantly) shelf life.
From our initial list of about 15 – we were able to cross off over half of them right off the bat.
At least 7 of the companies so called “survival” offerings were filled with the same kind of preservatives and chemicals that make the government MRE rations so terrible. So, they were out.
Next, we eliminated several more based on price alone. Did you know that some of these companies are charging upwards of $5000 for just a couple months of food? Steer clear of that mess for sure.
The last few were eliminated based on shelf life. We were looking for the best possible longevity. You just don’t know when a crisis might hit, it could be next week, it could be next year.
It might be 10 years from now… or more.
