Anti-Inflammatory Herbs to Start Using
We’re all familiar with inflammation. It can occur following an injury, or be a result of a more chronic or biological condition.
Inflammation is part of the body’s immune response. It represents the body’s natural attempt to protect itself. But sometimes inflammation persists longer than necessary and causes more harm than good.
Extreme inflammation can have negative affects on the heart and arteries, nerve cells… even the brain.
Now, here’s what makes this even worse.
Many of us, when we’re experiencing inflammation, take over-the-counter, anti-inflammatory drugs and then more drugs. And sometimes these have side-effects or are too costly to maintain.
But, there are some natural remedies that easier on your wallet and a lot less and has fewer (or no) side effects. My top 3 list are of herbs and supplements you can find in the grocery or drugstore.
I’ve listed three herbs that I use for inflammation symptoms and are some of the more popular and accessible herbs to try:
-
Tumeric. Known for its yellow coloring, its extract is usually taken in capsule form. Tumeric has been used as a medicinal herb and as a spice in curry for centuries in many cultures. The main active ingredient in turmeric, curcumin, has powerful anti-inflammatory effects and is a strong antioxidant. It works best after a couple of months of regular usage.
-
Boswellia. This herb known for its ability to treat a variety of forms of inflammation. It’s said to boost the immune system, fight infections and a whole lot more. Folks claim it supports healthy blood flow to the joints while breaking up scar tissue around those joints. Boswellia has been called the “best natural cancer fighter.”
-
Chamomile. This anti-inflammatory relieves muscle cramps and said to dissolve kidney stones and gallstones. A Chamomile tea is sometimes added to bathwater for a relaxing bath. As a salve, it is also helpful for treating burns, inflamed skin and skin irritation, including eczema. Its been celebrated for its healing properties since the ancient Greek and Roman civilizations.
Our family regularly uses Chamomile tea, and makes “Golden Milk” from Tumeric (a recipe I recommend looking up and trying). These herbs are worth giving a shot. They’re safe, inexpensive and tasty. Best of all… they work. You might even want to consider growing them yourself.

I was diagnosed with Emphysema. My symptoms included shortness of breath, dizziness, lack of oxygen to all body parts, numbness of fingers, no energy, no appetite, fatigue, and bloodshot eyes. I was living at a place that has mold and mildew in the air conditioning unit. I also smoked a pack a day for 20 years. The Pulmonologist started me on Spiriva and Advair plus nose sprays, to reduce symptoms and slow down progression but I could not tolerate them for long due to severe side effects so I opted not to go on prescription medicines but decided on using herbs instead, October 18, 2017 after being on the herbs you recommended, i had a total recovery from Emphysema disease with this natural herbal formula treatment. The shortness of breath, dizziness has subsided. When I stumbled upon you guys, it was just pure instinct. And from that day on it has been one of the best decisions I’ve made in my life. The caring that goes into explaining what herbs work for whatever ails me is astounding. In today’s world where so many are after a quick buck, selling without care, Natural Herbal Garden’s staffs amplifies the difference. Fresh ginger is a good anti-inflammatory. I’ve been using it internally and topically as a poultice for an “arthritic” trigger finger. It brings the swelling down – it will give a “burning” sensation but does not actually hurt the skin in any way. I spread the grated fresh ginger onto the finger and wrap in gauze and a disposable glove and wear overnight. Am seeing some improvement in movement and less swelling.
One fo the herbs I use most often is Rabbit Tobacco, I use it routinely for IBS symptoms,It is effective for some forms of lactose intolerance. and it works to break up lung congestion..even chronic, like COPD..
I use it most often as a tea, using about 2″ of stem and 10-12 leaves, and a peppermint tea bag.. put all in a cup and pour very hot water over it , make sure all material is submerged. cover with a saucer… let stand 20 min. can be reheated on stove, but do not boil, it makes it bitter… won’t hurt you but does not taste good.(never microwave herbs) You can also ice it, or add to regular iced tea. This is considered one serving… if gastric distress continues after 4 hours can repeat.
. It can also be tinctured,
I use a double tincture.. to make choose container and half fill with herb,, whole herb is used including roots if it has been uprooted, crush those and break any stems in small peices. fill with vodka, make sure everything is covered., and recheck it in a few days and top it off… after three weeks..remove all old material and replace with a fresh batch… drain all liquids and press out old material well, return that liquid to jar and top off with more of food grade alcohol. after 3 weeks , strain and press out the liquid.. I use about 10 cc of this for diarrhea or severe gas attacks.
The second herb i use most often is oil of Oregano. I use it for fever blisters . I dilute with 3 cc of warm coffee and use about 8 drops hold in mouth under tongue for one minute and then swallow. if fever blisters in lower lip i coat them with the blend of coffee and oil of oregano.
I also use Oil of oregano topically to clear patches of skin fungus/dark spots that become hard and cracked on my face and for any skin irritation., infected hair etc…. one or two drops to the areas 2 x a day.
the third thing i use is essential Pepeprmint oil. I use one drop daily on my toothbrush… cleared a gum infection via rubbing one drop on affected area 3x daily for 3 days, then 2 x a day for 3 days..It can be put under nose and topically behind the ears for sinus issues.. Just one drop is all needed. can also be utilized effectively in the diffuser.6-8 drops will run over several hours and relieve sinus congestion.
I would like the amounts used in your “Golden Milk tea”. Thanks
For what it”s worth, I just bought a Breville juicer on Amazon, used like new for $75, regular $100, and love it! Easy to clean and compact. You might want to invest in one if you end up making a lot of celery juice. I really like a glass of cold carrot juice after a good workout. I am going to experiment with roots like ginger and tumeric also. For whatever reason my periods and bloating are much better after having kids. I rarely even need Ibuprofen anymore and the bloating is not as bad for as long (and only once a month). I use a copper IUD, so no hormones. Good luck on your quest! best custom essay
I heard about Tumeric an have been taking it for 9 months. I no longer have to take my blood pressure medicine. My 32 year old daughter takes it an feels 100% better. My Yorkie had pancreatisis and lumps in his throat. his cancer was spreading. I gave him a half of capusule in wet food in the evening and the lump shrank in his throat with 6 hours an he could breathe much better. It helped him for 6 months. I AM A BELIEVER. Sincerely Janice
I gave tumeric to my labrador, and he developed ulcers. My vet said dogs stomachs do not tolerate it well.
