National Preparedness Month Is Underway
“We are experiencing a continuous increase in the number of extreme weather events. (Yet) the vast majority of Americans remain unprepared for major disasters.”
– Dr. Irwin Redlener, Director for the National Center for Disaster Preparedness at Columbia University
Yesterday marked the start of National Preparedness Month. This event has taken place every September since 2004.
The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) sponsors this event. The idea is to encourage Americans to take steps to prepare for all emergencies – whether terrorist attack or natural disaster.
This year’s National Preparedness Month theme is: ” Disasters Happen. Prepare Now. Learn How.”
FEMA Admits They’ve Fallen Short
I suppose in a perfect world, the government would immediately step in during disasters. And they’d provide whatever assistance we need.
That’s what FEMA was designed to do when it was created in 1979.
But we’ve seen firsthand it usually doesn’t work out that way. Just ask the poor folks forced to take shelter at the New Orleans Superdome during Hurricane Katrina. It might have been scarier inside that building than out in the storm.
Or, ask FEMA. Last month agency officials admitted their shortcomings over the last year – they drastically underestimated the devastation Hurricane Maria would bring.
Powerless to Help Puerto Ricans
More than 3 million people in this U.S. territory lost electrical power in that horrific storm. Some for many months.
Originally the death toll was listed at 64. But a recent study conducted at Harvard University revealed it was closer to 4,000.
FEMA officials admitted they didn’t plan properly for a major hurricane. And did not take the country’s “insufficiently maintained infrastructure” into account.
A report stated: “FEMA leadership acknowledged that the Agency could have better anticipated that the severity of hurricanes Irma and Maria would cause long-term, significant damage to the territory’s infrastructure.”
Statistics Tell the Story
Here are some statistics about preparedness you might find interesting. They were published by FEMA.
- Eighty percent of Americans live in counties that have been hit with a weather-related disaster since 2007.
- Approximately 60 percent of American adults have not practiced what to do in a disaster in the past year.
- Less than 40 percent of Americans have developed an emergency plan and discussed it with their household.
- About two-thirds of Americans lack adequate supplies for a disaster.
FEMA: Every American Should Have This
Those stats are concerning to say the least.
Earlier this year, FEMA director Brock Long admitted that it’s up to U.S. citizens to become self-reliant.
He said,” “We have to make sure that we implement a true culture of preparedness within our citizenry. We don’t have it…
“It cannot be solely on the shoulders of the Federal Emergency Management Agency.”
Both FEMA and the Red Cross recommend that every American have non-perishable survival food on hand.
Natural disasters, terrorist attacks and other threats can make obtaining sufficient food impossible in an emergency.
Demand Surges for NEW Survival Food Kit
Here’s what customers have to say about our survival food.
Sharon C. shares how her entire family likes the taste:
“We have tried several of the different foods in the 4Patriots packages, and each member of the family actually liked them! That is kind of unusual, as they are rather picky eaters. So it is a wonderful thing to know that we have some great food in case of disaster that won’t cause any extra stress because someone doesn’t like what is available.”
Stacy W. talks about the peace of mind our survival food brings her:
“I would never have planned ahead. 4Patriots changed that. Having a supply of food that does not spoil for years allows me to relax. I do not have to worry where we will get food if a disaster occurs. We have an adequate supply of great tasting food should that ever happen. Removing that stress and putting my mind at ease is worth every penny. Thank you!”
And Jane discusses the importance of being prepared:
“I am a 60-year-old single Veteran and a previous food service specialist in the military. And I feel it is very important that we think about our basic needs, be thankful for what we have, get ready, learn and be prepared. Your food has really come in handy, is so good and has especially come to my rescue during home emergencies when I couldn’t make it to the grocery store. I really like that your company gives back to our Veterans.”
4Patriots survival foods are made of the finest ingredients, grown and packaged right here in the USA. They taste great and provide the nutrition you need.
Here’s the even better news.

I just wanted to say I believe you are right and this is a great deal and I would love to have it BUT I don’t have 9.99 extra much less be able to pay 99.99 down and a payment so you said make a comment,so keep up the good work I do believe it is needed yes I have some of your stuff a small it and it is good🌟
You truly aren’t alone, Mavereen! I was very fortunate to discover Frank’s wonderful enterprise back when I still was able to work for a living and started building my storage. I didn’t, however, have a clue how soon my circumstances were going to change… Now my “income” really isn’t.. BUT I have a small jar in the corner of my kitchen where any and all leftover change goes (sometimes only pennies in a week) and I keep up with the times Frank is able to offer deep discounts on even small amounts of survival gear and/or food and then I get what I can. Over time, I have been able to get small pieces of gear that I wouldn’t otherwise have, and every 72 hour kit adds just that much more to replacing my food stores which I have had to use over the last couple of years… The going is very slow, but it does add up over time! Hang in there and God Bless!
I wanted to send my son and his wife the wonderful Labor Day package. He is lactose intolerant and has Krohn’s Disease. She has many food allergies as well as several food related intolerances. I am a Celiac case and do not tolerate gluten. I probably would buy what you offered if you could take more allergies into consideration. I think you have a good product for the majority of the population. My family and I just can’t eat it. Color me sad.
It is obvious that the weather is becoming more violent, civil unrest is increasing and world tensions are tight. A responsible man takes care of his family under any and all circumsances to the best of his ability. Learning how to deal with the loss of elect power, the shortage of food and water, medical suplies, cleanliness are the main concerns. Guarding one’s home must be considered. These preparations shouldn’t break the bank. Look at the expense the same way as your insurance policies only much better. Better to be prepared and hopeing for tranquility than being caught empty handed. How much do you value self reliance? Who loves you and your family more that you, for you to depend on strangers and thieves? We can trust in God’s providence but he trusts in you doing your part
That’s a great way to describe self-sufficiency! Thanks, Robert.
Your food looks and sounds great but most of it has garlic and onions. Not a big deal unless you are allergic to sulfates, which I am. There are many people that would love to buy your meal kits but we cannot eat it. Please develop some sulfate free meals and expand your customer base. I love everything else I have purchased from you.
