5 crazy solar survival gadgets…
In a crisis you had better have the right gear if you and your family are going to make it. You had better have food, water, and you better be able to communicate with loved ones far away. That means you’ll need charging capability for your electronics, radios so you can keep up with critical events, and lighting so you’re not blind when the power is out.
That’s why I have these cool little gizmos for keeping my stuff going when the big one hits.
•This solar power generator ccan run a small refrigerator, lighting, and a TV for a day if needed. Or you might need it to run a medical device in the event of a power outage. We love that it’s got USB outputs for charging your phone as well.
•This solar tackle bag will charge your radio batteries while you’re pulling in some bass.
•If things really get bad, you can always start a fire with a little bit of sunshine and this solar spark lighter.
Are there any cool solar gadgets that you’ve seen that you think I should know about? Let me know in the comments!

Solar power is GREAT, but $$$$$$$$$$ If a solar panel breaks you are going have a hard time getting it into a waste dump. If you know a company that installs solar panels, asked them on how they throw their broken panels away. If they tell you there is no problem, then they are blowing smoke up your A$$!!!!!!!! Before you get any solar panels, ask questions and check with the people that have solar installed and check with more than ONE company. GOOD LUCK
Solar products is great but sometimes it can be expensive. But there’s some online shop for affordable price. You guys should try visit http://cheapgadgetsstore.com/
I’d only been researching information to purchase materials to have solar and wind powered electrical available? None of it is cheap? Thankfully, I’m educated in electronics and electro-mechanical devices? A large part of the cost will be the batterys and inverter required to power my small home? No telephones for this deaf-disabled retired, disabled and deaf older veteran!? I’m also not one of the idiots who helped place, probably the worse President in the country’s history in office? LAW! What a joke? I’ve had officers come to my door with false charges and take me away? When I returned the next morning, the office window had been broken, my office ransacked, and an old 22 rifle had been remove from the closet! I can not even trust local police! I installed cameras and place warning signs and withing a week, both of my external cameras had been destroyed!
The main thing I’ve found about solar products is when U buy one thing it always leads to something else that U have to buy. I think solar is a great thing, but it is not for the common man. It is VERY, VERY, COSTLY. Unless U can do most all of it your self, in witch most people can not, U will pay dearly. To go off grid it takes thousands of $’s, and takes about 20 years to pay for itself. One other thing is that there is not much of it very attractive. I would like to have a solar generator, but even that is over 2 thousand $’s. this is to have one strong enough to run a freezer and a light or 2. It is a money mans toy, I can’t afford it, and most people can’t. I truly wished I could. But when the SHTF, (it’s just a matter of time) all this can be a dead give away. A friend of mine works for the power co. said with Obumer shutting down the coal plants, that there will be black outs in parts of the country, and some could last a while. He said that the coal powered plants carried the bulk of the load. And that people will see the highest power bills that they have ever seen. This is part of the transformation!! Good luck all, no matter how U go. I’m stock pilling candles, grow a garden, gone back to fire place, and have 3 large springs, (fine water). A solar generator, I’d be set. I just need to save a couple of years, then I might be able to afford one. Good luck ALL, we’re gona need it!
I totally agree. I’ve been conscious for several years now of the need to try to go off grid, to move out of the city, save up survival food and have a good water source or a way to make bad water good. Unfortunately, I’m pretty much alone in this – my adult sons are busy with their lives and think I’m nuts for saying we need to get together, get some land and go off grid together, to help each other in the days ahead, but they’re not buying it. I’m permanently disabled, which happened when I was 29, with small children. I’d only worked (as an adult paying taxes, that is) for 10 years, and so got stuck with SSI. Not enough to live on already, so it’s definitely not enough to do this with. I’ve bought a little bit of 25-30 year food and hidden it, stored up about 50 gal of water, bought 3 filter bottles to use just in case, each one purifies several hundred liters. That’s about all I’m able to do, and it’s getting scary, especially knowing about the coal plants. I live very close to this area of which you speak, and would love to move away before the blackouts begin, but with my income, can’t do it alone. I share a house with my youngest son, who at 22, is not interested in anything but working, his girlfriend, and having fun. I understand being young and not wanting to accept that I’m not going to be able to live the life I’ve always dreamed of – I went through it, but now the end of life as we know it is very near, and my family – siblings, mom and sons – all think I’m an alarmist, and they’re the ones who are able to help. I’ve got a sister who owns many acres of wooded land with a well, and wants to move off of it and not make repairs or replace their trailor, let alone go off grid. I’d love the property, but since I’d need a ride to the doctor every month, that’s out of the question, even though it’d be a regular monthly income for them…Well, whatever. Just know this, everyone —if you’re able, do it, and do it NOW…if you’re not able to do it alone, seek out like minded people who you trust, and try to work out some way to help each other, and do it anyway. You don’t have to get married or anything crazy – friendship nowadays is such a difficult thing to find – true friendship and trust. But now is when we need to find it, to help others – more than any other time before now. Be kind and tenderhearted to one another…..may God bless and prosper and protect all here. :)
To Nancy – am interested in the property and splitting or sharing it with you or someone. Very serious about this

Eric Why not look into a conversion box used by generators. My box has neutral, a line connection, and a generator connection for six separate circuits. It may take some thinking but it could be a possibility.
Hi folks,
I recently had a 3kw solar power system installed on my house. It works fine and cuts my power bills, but there is one glaring shortcoming – it only feeds power to the house while the mains grid is on line. This means that when there is a supply outage, my own system will not operate. There is a great need for a system which will continue to supply the house when the mains power is down, which can happen due to maintenance, traffic accidents, or weather. I keep a little gas stove and a batch of fat candles for these occasions. The fat candles are safer than the long ones as they don’t need a candle holder and they have a nice regular and long-lasting flame.
A small wind turbine is a great idea for when the power goes off on a stormy night. Any good designs available?
Wow. Solar is fine but a solar power system that is not feeding into a bank of deep cycle 12v batteries seems to defeat the survivalist aspect of going solar. I would guess you could find an electrician who would wire a battery supply system into you existing solar array. You’d need to compute your power needs, buy batteries capable of supporting those needs, buy a power regulator so you don’t burn up the batteries when they are charging and find a good location to locate your batteries. There is a lot of information online from a variety of sources….most of the sources seem to know what they’re talking about and have first hand information. I wish you luck, hope my little comment helps and take care.
Did anyone see the wood burner that produces electricity on Cramer Mad Money. I think it was on Monday Dec 11. A great survival essential!
That’s the problem with linking to outside sites – sometimes they move stuff around. Try now, Dave.
The only link that worked for me is “Solar Survivor Kit”. I really wanted to know about the “solar spark lighter.
Tks. Dave.
