You know, I try to have faith in elected officials. I really do. But then I hear about Congressmen sponsoring bills without even taking the time to read them, and I shake my head and wonder how in the world this country got to be as great as it is. Let me tell you about the latest governmental fiasco.
It seems that three Democrats in the Olympia, Washington, legislature proposed Senate Bill 5737 as part of their overall gun control legislation. What at least two of them failed to realize – and this could only happen if their clerks were writing the bills that they were signing off on – was that there was wording in the bill that would require law-abiding gun owners to submit to a yearly home inspection by the county sheriff.
These searches would be conducted, without warrants, for the purpose of making sure that homeowners’ guns were safely and securely stored. Failure to comply could get you a year in prison. As humor writer Dave Barry is fond of saying, “I’m not making this up.”
Well, once the bill’s sponsors heard about that particular language being in the proposed bill, they admitted it was a mistake. The bill was only eight pages long. That’s like a fortune cookie’s fortune compared to most bills! If elected officials are too busy playing golf to spend 15 minutes reading a bill – a bill that they sponsored! – then something is wrong. Not surprisingly, the bill died before it reached a vote.
Check out this Seattle Times article take on the situation. You want to hear something crazy? The writer is actually in favor of gun control, and even he can see how unconstitutional this would be!
As crazy as home-to-home searches for guns might sound to us now, would it really surprise you if those kinds of things became the law in the U.S. some day? I’m not so sure I’d be shocked if it eventually happened, considering the direction we’re headed.
But in the meantime, let me know how you’d feel about a county sheriff coming to your house annually to snoop around and look at your guns. How would you react if that became the law of the land where you live?

As I have always maintained, The Constitution and the Bill of Rights will always be in full force on my land. And it WILL be enforced by me, no matter what the clowns in DC or any other governing body decides. I took an oath, and that oath is binding until the day that I die. Any attempt to infringe upon any of my rights will be met with deadly force. PERIOD!
As long as all of us stick to our guns on these attempted assaults upon our freedoms, those that think they can do otherwise will stand no chance of succeeding.

I am totally fed up with these dirt bag politicians that do not read bills being voted on and passed. I do not agree with this garbage (so called law) and will not obey any law that tramples on my 2nd amendment right.

I was raised in a very patriotic home. Dad was WWII Marine Corps and Navy pilot and very proud of our country. He began to doubt the government in the late 60’s. I was drafted during Vietnam and was no less proud. You can’t imagine the shock when he said he was ready to move to Canada (never did).
Since then my trust in our government has declined.

The government can do whatever they want to, but its none of their G D business and they will never be welcome in my home. They do not have any right to do anything unconstitutionally, or otherwise. If they want to come in and inspect my home, well, then they had better open their homes to my inspection!!! I will refuse them entry……therefore, they will become invaders and in Montana we can shoot to protect ourselves from unwanted visitors.
Our cousins in Germany own a jewelry business. They told us 5-6 years ago that the GERMAN authorities knocked on their residential door asking to see where the gun was. They were NOT nice. The gun was at the store with the owner not in the house. They were fined???? This is not something new but it is the beginning of loss of civil liberties.
The local police did inspect the house where we were staying in Scotland on a red stag stalking trip. While we were eating dinner they knocked on the door and asked to see where our guns were stored. The homeowner showed them the cabinet with an iron door, locked with a stout padlock, opened it and showed our guns. The police approved and left. If they had done that in Alaska there would have been a confrontation I’m sure.
We all need to be held accountable for our actions and with that is the pride to do j0bs to the best of our ability. Failure to read a bill of only 8 pages and sponsoring same is a outrage. I know when my signature goes on a document I am held accountable for its content. If that is how regulated industry expects the companies they regulate to conduct business, where are the auditor to check on Washington and the elected officials who dictate what is to be, except for those selected few excluded parties/persons (them)?
That is when shtf we need to take our country back know.
The only thing that shocks me is my fathers words. He too served in ww2 and my mom who was born in Peking but is Norwegian was a prisoner of war. I live in WA state and was so livid when anti-gunners resolutions passed recently in this state. I tried my part to warn people the they were based on non truth and backed by the millions of dollars of some elite gun haters to get pushed through. The problem is that the most populous area in the state (Seattle area) is as liberally dumbfounded as California. So I guess we can chalk that up to the ignorance of people. When a lawmaker acts as if something they endorsed or wrote was a mistake, you already should know they knew exactly what they were writing or signing off on. If they get away with it fine, and if they get called out on it, then it is a mistake. The representation has gotten away with far too many things and not one of them are stupid they know exactly what they are doing in pushing the New World Order agenda through. That is members of both parties. The Patriot Act, an act of treason is what the representation supports. Each and everyone of them has voted for it’s continuance and as long as the Patriot Act is allowed, there will be nothing else but treason committed on a regular basis, look at what has happened since it was signed behind a closed door, and not one of the representation said a word about it. Take a note when you see any of the representation speak the word Constitution, as they refer to it, they do not abide by it and they do not follow through and utilize it. They use the word to make you think they still recognize it. Believe it or not until the Patriot Act is removed the treason will continue and the citizens will not have representation. At my house, my guns are safely and securely loaded and stored under my couch, under my recliner, under the towels by my shower, under an empty box in my garage, beside the front door and any other place I think I may need them in a hurry.

I would like to see Congress put into legislation a Bill that would REQUIRE the representative to read ANY BILL prior to voting on it. Any Legislator who votes on a bill he has not read, has Defrauded the American People, and has committed a crime!! The first offense is punishable with a $50,000. Fine and removal from office….That would eliminate any chance of a second offense…..

I am a firm believer in the sanctity of the family. That it should not be broken. When an Illegal Alien is apprehended they should be deported ASAP and that is to include any and all minor children and family members …..If found. This is regardless of Birthright Citizenship. Only an intact family can instill those core values that is so important in life….in their home country. Birthright Citizenship needs to go away, but until that time, once that Anchor / Dreamer turns 18, then they can “apply” to come back to the US.

Lots of anger and fear in these comments. I find myself agreeing with much of what has been said. I keep wondering how these people, that so many rage on about, keep getting elected. It has to be us, as a whole, who continue putting these people in a position to take away our liberty. What is feared most, I think, by those in power and those who keep them there, is the simple fact that we still can vote. We actually have a great and fearsome power in the ballot. Drew, I’m afraid the powerful power of the vote is no longer there. With the electoral vote the law of the land, the popular people’s vote no longer stands. If it did, the last election would have turned out very differently. For our votes to actually have power, it would have to be such a landslide popular vote that they could not hide behind the electoral vote strategy. Other than that, we’re already on that slippery slope and gaining speed.

Here in Connecticut they passed a 167 page gun-control law in January 2013 in response to the Newtown shooting and it was ‘released’ at 10 am in the morning, was passed at 2pm by the Senate and passed the next morning at 2am by the House and signed by Governor Malloy at 12 noon! You can’t tell me ANY of those creeps read one word!
The bill was put together by Nancy Pelosi’s people, passed through the White House and delivered to Malloy to get made into law.
When I retire in 2 years, the moving van will be at my house the next day and we’re headed for Virginia (if that state hasn’t gone totally liberal) or Texas.

You are almost correct. What Obama is is a Radical Muslim Extremist. It is so obvious but no one has the courage to say it. He is part of ISIS. He provides them weapons (the ones our military was forced to leave behind), he gives them our money ( the billions, if not trillions that he gave to “solindra ” & other companies that don’t exhaust). This doesn’t surprise me a bit, on the other hand it is very scary, anyone whi has had any kind if run in with the law knows that when they come to get you there is nothing you can do about….even if your inocent, your at their mercy, locked up in a cage until they say your innocent. The only answer is in GOD the father, as a nation we need now more than ever “In God We Trust”, we need to involve God and Jesus in our everyday lives as this is the only way to be safe beyond this mortal world full of distractions meant to weaken us. We need to unite once again for the common good, for a common intrest that will bring morals and respect back into our homes…..this TRUTH is the only way, anyway other than through the son and our savior Jesus Christ is damned and certain to fail, look around you as its proof enough that this is Satan world, more now than ever. So take this as you will but remember God is not asking you to be perfect, he is asking for effort and Love, we can unite through God and he will take care of us so long as we believe with our hearts, mind and soul. Dont believe me, take a leap of faith and address him sincerly with real intent, ask of the father for stregnth and wisdom, ask for discernment on what to follow and pray for your leaders, family, friends, and even your enemies! Keep in mind this world is simply a test for this reason only, many will go but few are chosen… May you find comfort in what follows this probationary state by choosing the right and doing your best to not add to the problems, there is so much more to life than what we see here on earth.
Just another example of “do-gooders” that think they are saving us from ourselves. They know better than us what is safe. As I tell some people that believe this way, “you just want all the bad people to go away and then life would be good” but that is not going to happen so we need to be able to protect ourselves. It is our (gun owners) responsibility to keep our guns safe from anyone who shouldn’t have them but we also need to have them ready to defend our life and home. I have been a true blue Texas girl live on a ranch with my animals and I’d be damn if the goverment or sheriff would be allowed to inspect my home by law . They are invited for supper or tea, but I have the right to defend my homestead and have as many guns(for hunting and protection) as I damn well please and that goes for all my family, I have family in law enforcement that feel the same way as I do. I have taught all my kids about firearm safety and have brought them guns and shotguns as they became of age. And I will do the same with my grandsons when that time comes around. Living in the Seattle area, I’m always astonished at how so many of our legislators have lobbyists draft their bills for them and then don’t bother to read them. This is not an isolated incident, but it is one that caused a huge outcry: not only from gunowners, but from just about everyone other than “Cease Fire” (whose lobbyists drafted the language of the bill).

How can you trust elected representatives who pass a 2700 page healthcare bill, without even reading it, just to see what’s in it, then (two years later) accept waivers from participating in Obama Care “because they and their staffers can’t afford it”. I don’t believe anything they say anymore and won’t rest until they are all replaced, especially the 70 members of the Self-Declared Socialists in the House, in the next midterm election in 2014!
If I want law enforcement or any piece of crap overpaid politician in my home I will invite them.

What would stop a sheriff from going thru you wife or young daughters panty drawer looking for hidden guns. So what if you show them your gun safe…stupid things like this would allow searches without a warrant….term limits….YES!
Term limits. One, and possibly One more. One in office, and maybe One in prison for any crimes committed against the people while they were in office during Term One. Hold them accountable, and no more exceptions to the laws that they pass for the rest of us. They must live by the same laws and have the same healthcare and retirement plans that the rest of us must live with.
We have a duty and responsibility to ignore any unconstitutional law. This would be in direct opposition to the 4th Amendment so I would have to do my duty by demanding to see the warrant showing probable cause supported by oath or affirmation, particularly describing the place to be searched and the persons or things to be seized. No warrant, no entry to my home.
Six months ago four County Sheriffs gathered at a school in Payette Idaho, all interested people concerning this crappy Gun Control that Left Wing Democrats are pushing showed up. All four let the people know that as long as they are in their positions they will NOT follow any direction or assist any Federal Official in taking guns from any citizen that has not been arrested for an infringement on another citizens rights! They were sad to hear that it was a complete opposite in just a few Counties over. Sad World! God Bless America!

Our kids today are not taught about the Constitution in school anymore, nor do they learn anything about “Civics” in schools. It is time for the older generation to teach these youngsters about the Constitution and why it is important or this country could disappear as we know. It is well on the way now. It doesn’t surprise me that here in Washington state, our legislators tried to get this type of gun legislation passed. I am fed up with them not reading the bills they are supporting. It is time to remove them from office. They certainly do not represent “We the People”.

That’s why we need to put term limits on both the house and senate and get rid of career politations. Also get rid of there ridiculous retirement. We might at that point limit the amount of damage they cause. Also require them to live under the same laws they require us to live under. If you take the wealth out of politics you may get rid of the corruption. We need to live under our Constitution not trample
Someone has to vote for lawmakers like that!
We might as well be locked up the way it’s going, we will have no rights for anything. Our freedoms are disappearing one by one. Looks like we need another Revolution.

Barnes and Noble is selling “The Constitution of the United States and Selected Writing of the Founding Fathers” as part of their Leatherbound Classics series for $18. Make sure every household with a Patriot in it that you know of has a copy.
You can get a box of 100 constitutions for a dollar each at the National Center for Constitutional Studies website. You could give them out along with candy and stuff to kids during the holidays, and also give a copy to all your friends and family on Independence Day. They also have a poster of the constitution you could put up in your kid’s room for $10 and summery cards of 28 constitutional principles that you could just leave lying around in public restrooms or whatever (they’re only 3 cents each.) Also, make sure to sit down with your family and discuss the importance of the constitution, explain some of it’s concepts, and encourage them to read it – as well as read and re-read the our founding documents yourself. Spread the word!
I’m so glad you posted this because it directly coorelates to the story out of Conneticut that I wanted to highlight for everyone. A friend of mine posted this story from fox news on Facebook. Apparently someone called Child Protective Services and the Police who showed up at the home of a local gun safety instructor’s house. His son had recently passed his rifle safety class and became a licensed hunter, so like any proud parent he posted a pic of his little hunter (age 11) on Facebook. Days later his home is being raided and his wife is being instructed by cops and CPS to open their family gun safe so that the officials to inventory (and one must wonder, possibly attempt to confiscate) their fire arms! Fortunately the wife called her husband who quickly called an attorney. The cops didn’t leave until the attorney informed them that they were violating the families 4th and 2nd amendment rights and they were instructed to leave the home unless they had a warrant. So you see, they aren’t even waiting to get crazy, unconstitutional laws passed, they are going for it without a single legal leg to stand on
