Dam! 30-Foot Wall of Water Threatens Hundreds of Thousands
Twelve years ago. TWELVE YEARS!
That’s how much warning government officials had that the main spillway for the Oroville Dam in California could become unstable and that people in communities near the dam would be in danger.
But as we’ve come to expect from our government, state and federal regulators ignored the warnings and failed to reinforce the nearby hillside with concrete.
So, as you have undoubtedly seen on the news over the past week, close to 200,000 people were forced to evacuate their homes because they are in the path of a 30-foot wall of water that could come rushing at them at any moment if that spillway erodes any farther.
Considering the spillway has a hole in it the size of a football field and 40 feet deep, it’s a very distinct possibility!
And it’s not like this is some small, little-known dam in an unpopulated area. At 770 feet high, it’s the tallest dam in the country! It holds back billions of gallons of water with the potential to destroy thousands of homes.
How are these homeowners dealing with it? Well, like most Americans, they’re unprepared for a crisis. And not surprisingly, they’re panicking.
“I have the clothes on my back. No insurance policies, no cash, no nothing,” said Warren Neufeld of Oroville.
He ended up at a nearby Red Cross shelter. Some others decided to take a chance in their homes.
“I decided I’d rather be in the house and we can climb on the roof rather than be in the car if something happens,” said Patrick Miner.
Really?!?! Are those the best options? Running to a shelter or climbing on your roof?
And how have government officials responded to this crisis at the Oroville Dam?
“We’ve never seen anything like this in modern times,” a California water official said. “This is a worst-case scenario for any water management agency.”
Of course it is. Ignore a problem for 12 years and eventually you’re going to have a very dangerous situation on your hands.
And that’s really what this is all about. If there’s one thing I’ve learned, it’s that we can’t count on the government to keep us safe.
Of course, the politicians are jumping in to point fingers. U.S. Representative John Garamendi said that if the state had listened to the warnings years ago, “This problem would not have occurred.”
And it’s certainly easy for us to sit back and say, “Those homeowners should have been ready for something like this. Especially with 12 years’ advance notice.”
But are we ready for whatever disaster comes our way? Are you prepared to pick up and leave your home at a moment’s notice?
What would you grab if you had to get out of dodge?
Personally, if I was faced with an immediate evacuation, I’d grab my Patriot Power Generator. At least if I ended up camping, I’d be able to power all of my electronic devices.
Or if you think you’d stay home and brave it out, what would you do if you lost power for days on end?

Yes, Frank–all true Patriots need to stand together to support other Patriots who are unfairly attacked when they are doing good for others! 4Patriots is supplying very good products at reasonable costs to help with our survival needs, plus many helpful suggestions, recipes from cat, and much more! 4Patriots is pro family where so much is not in our country these days. I support Frank Bates’ efforts to keep a stronger America that we can all be proud of, and where we can continue to enjoy our freedoms, have our constitutional rights, and remain independent!
When choosing your home, location location location is so very important. The location of your home can help mediate many of the situations that could come. I did not say eliminate, I said mediate. Common sense goes a long way. Don’t live under a damn. And just in case you thought you could survive a 30’ wall of water? That would ERASE the landscape, there would be nothing left! Choosing a higher elevation (my house is higher that all my neighbors) helps avoid minor, yet costly flooding. Avoid high density living. If the SHTF happens, how many people do you want knocking on your door? There will be some, but do you really want to deal with hundreds or thousands? Just a little common sense goes a long way.
I hear ya, Don. There’s much to consider when buying a home, and potential natural disasters in your area is certainly one of them. Of course, the government had 12 years to deal with this problem and chose not to, but it is always risky to live that close to a dam, regardless of government incompetence.
They have even hired Eric Holder, ex U S Attorney General, who was removed from office by impeachment if one remembers, to work against the Feds attempts at enforcing our laws and putting an end to the “Sanctuaries” declared in the State of California and it’s cities.
Sounds like an illegal use of taxpayers monies and I really don’t believe that’s what the citizens want THEIR money used for ??
i’m looking for the bb gun do you have it or any help with this
It’s my understanding that instead of working on this dam project, that monies went on ILLEGAL immigrants and refugees . . .
Here’s your Calif State Government in action. Gov Jerry Brown’s 680 billion $$$$ high-speed rail to nowhere boondoogle that has more than tripled in costs hasn’t even produced as much as a single train,or tracks, while the whole State is in danger from a FAILING infrastructure. Then after calling to make Calif a sanctuary State and vowing to fight Trump with every breath in his body, asks the Feds for Disaster Relief Funds.
Of course he forgot to mention that California has 8 Billion$$$ already set aside in it’s “Rainy Day Fund” that it could use considering that he caused the problem by ignoring required dam repairs for twelve years…..another pet project being rammed up our behinds while the real needs of our citizens are ignored.. We haven’t even built any new dams even in a prolonged drought. Now they want to spend our money to protect criminal illegal aliens here. And fight OUR Government and our law abiding citizens to do so. Feel free to stop me when any of this makes any sense……
“Moonbeam”, Gov Brown, just a great example of what’s going on with a totally out of control Government in California. It ain’t known as the “Left Coast” fer nothin’ !!!
typo in my post…
I meant to say 68 Billion $$$$ on the train to nowhere. Not 680…..
facts matter
The state had multiple chances to address this problem. When the level was down sufficiently to address the problem. The state officials made comments along the theme; “WE will never recover from this drought”
California residents are now paying the price, some ultimately for a complete lack of realistic thinking by state officials.
“We’ve never seen anything like this in modern times,” a California water official said. “This is a worst-case scenario for any water management agency.”
Seriously? Define “recent”. UC Davis shows 45 recorded dam failures in CA alone, totaling 460 deaths, the most recent being Baldwin Hills in LA county in 1965.
Maybe now people will realize that the Democrat Party admitted in 1933 that the reason FDR wanted SOCIAL(IZED) SECURITY AND MEDICINE BILLS WRITTEN BY EDWIN WITTE and the Democrat Legislators said NO to Government Healthcare because, ” then they will know that we are Socialist.”
