Unemployment Worse Than What Obama Tells Us
The White House and the media are telling a big lie!
Now, I’m sure this does not surprise you in the least. In fact, right now you may be saying, “Yes, Frank. I know they are. But which particular lie are you referring to right now?”
The particular lie I’m referring to is the one about unemployment. They are proudly standing behind podiums in their expensive suits, smiling broadly and telling the nation the unemployment rate has dropped to 5.6 percent. They smugly say this is the lowest it’s been since June 2008 when the recession really kicked in.
But there is a very big problem with this statistic. IT’S A BIG, FAT LIE. It doesn’t count the people who have been unemployed for such a long time that they quit looking. It also doesn’t count the people who are underemployed. What the heck kind of statistic is that?
Many very qualified workers have become so sick and tired of looking for jobs that weren’t there, they just flat out stopped looking and continued to exist on what they’d already earned. Many other very qualified people are currently working between 10 and 30 hours a week in part-time positions because they can’t find the full time opportunities they need to support their families. Do you think Obama is losing any sleep over those people? Of course not. He and his people only care about the “official” statistics that make them look good.
And it’s not just me who thinks this. The non-partisan Gallup research and polling firm declares that the official U.S. unemployment rate is an underestimation of reality and that it amounts to a “big lie.” Gallup CEO and Chairman Jim Clifton says that the 30 million Americans who have quit looking for work after four weeks are “as unemployed as one can possibly be.”
Are you one of those people who is either underemployed or who has quit looking for jobs that don’t exist? If so, how do you feel about the Obama Administration’s claim that the unemployment rate is so low? Hope to hear from you about this.
Like what you read? There’s more where that came from. See how your stockpile stacks up… Click here!

Former President Obama is not in office now- Our President Trump has done a lot to put people back to work. Our country was really going downhill. President Trump is pulling us out of the big hole we were in.
BUCK OFAMA!
They say the unemployment is down but when a person runs out of their unemployment money they drop off the radar and the government doesn’t count them anymore, it doesn’t mean that they got a job. They just don’t qualify anymore therefore they don’t count them. TRUMP 2016
TRUMP 2020, too!
Can’t these people in the government ever tell the truth?
I am so disgusted with all of them.
Government people tell the TRUTH? What, and get kicked out of their no-work , plush, so-called, alleged, pseudo JOBS? It is to laugh! :D
According to Government Shadow Stats the true unemployment rate is close to 24%.
You bet thee is a problem. I have two college degrees that I got in 2011 and I can’t even get a full time job in a kitchen. I keep hearing that there are jobs Americans don’t want. Yet those jobs aren’t even advertised.. It irks me to see foreign workers taking jobs from citizens. Yet colleges keep cranking out degrees for jobs that aren’t there. If this isn’t insane I don’t know what is.
If unemployment is down………………….then why is there a “homeless crisis” in virtually every major city. LA is to spend $100MM trying to house the homeless!
The only job that I could find after graduating with a BS in Addictions Counseling was a Title 1 Paraprofessional in the local school corporation. I work with children that are having a difficult time with reading. I was one of the lucky ones. Many people in this area cannot find work.
It is clear the government is cooking the books. The only way to accurately figure unemployment is to take the number of unemployed and divide by the number of available people in the workforce. Right now the number unemployed is over 40%. All the “seasonal adjustments” are simply ways to cook the books to get the desired figure. Someone once called this “voodoo economics”. It was true then and it is true today. MusingsbyMarian do tc om
How about taking the number of people employed full-time, dividing it by the number of people of working age, and subtracting it from 100%. That would be a more accurate measure of unemployment.
i had to close my small corporation in 2000 and move to Europe and then to China and Taiwan to get a job. I am sorry to tell all of you, but American companies cannot meet the government regulations on wages, health benefits, safety and environmental restrictions and compete against companies in Asia…who pay none of these expenses and whose products come into USA duty free. For years I traveled to Chinese companies where the employees sleep 4-6 in a room and all eat out of the same pot of rice every meal. Western prisoners enjoy a better life than Chinese factory workers. The Chinese care nothing for safety nor the environment: no A/C in the south and no heat in the north. Amd if the above lack of everything does not secure business, the Chinese government subsidizes factories for up to 5 years for exporting their goods to USA …..at a loss!

Where I work there are a lot of overqualified people working basicly for pennies an hour. I am worried that I may get targeted b/c I have worked there for 13 years and make halfway decent money. For every job they post they get 100 responses. So there are lots of people looking.
The private economist, John Williams, in www(dot)shadowstats(dot)com, has noted that there is an other official Government statistic, U-6, which is rarely noted in the media, showing ca. 11% unemployment., which includes those giving up about work, and those needing to take lower paying and/or lower time jobs.
Williams has his won unemployment statistics (SGS), actually showing ca. 23%!!
I am another of the many not counted in the unemployment statistics. I took an early retirement just about the time the recession hit, intending to take a few months off and then get another job. I didn’t take into account the job discrimination against older people. I cannot work for the minimum wage, only to watch virtually everything I earn be eaten up by work-related expenses, such as transportation and decent clothes, and additional income tax. So I remain unemployed, barely getting by. I spend a lot of my time trying to learn how to be more self-sufficient and live with less money.
Wait till October 2015 and you will really know how deceitful they are. A currency makeover is in the.works to avoid.a.global meltdown.of.world economics according.to some very hawkish PHD,s. Cash will be trash!
Frank,
It never ceases to amaze me how flaming socialist Liberals like Stan keep drinking the cool aide no matter what reality and commonsense throws right in their faces.
Maybe once there is a total collapse this spoiled nation of self serving, self absorbed, irresponsible dumb-asses will wake up! That is if they even survive the fall. We are nearing the brink I fear.
God Save America,

Actually, it is too much regulation of the banks that led to the problems. In 1998, Congress passed a bill supposedly outlawing “redlining” (this bill was sponsored by Democrats, including Barney Frank). What it really said was that they had to make roughly same amount of house loans regardless of city location and credit-worthiness of the area; if they failed, they could lose their federal charter (those manks tha toften have “National” in their names) or access to the FDIC (most customers will not bank with banks that are not FDIC insured).
So banks had to loosen their criteria on making loans, and you ended up making loans like the on for a $400,000 mortgage who only had $8,000 a year income–no way can they make the payments. Then Fannie May and Freddie Mac turned corrupt and started approving these bad loans for the “secondary market, where they are sold to different banks or bundled and sold as investments in the markets. When Bush the 43rth tried to investigate those two for corruption, Barney Frank and Chris Dodd (Democrats in House and Senate) blocked the investigations. So Fannie and Freddie essentially went bankrupt and had to be bailed out with billions of taxpayer dollars.
All of this came to a head in September 2008, which was the credit crash leading the the Great Recession, because banks could no longer lend money under the mess of rules, and that led to the election of Obama ((the election was trending toward the Republican in July and August, but the bad news reversed that trend).
Go back and check out the facts on this. If you do any research, you will find out the support for these statements, instead of the rewriting of history that has been done by the mainstream media.
Good take, but actually it all started with Carter’s Community Reinvestment Act. Then Clinton put it on steroids. This set the stage for Acorn’s suit against Citibank (by a law firm that employed one Barack Obama. After they brought Citibank to its knees in front of them, the message to other banks was clear. Make these loans to unqualified people or else we will break you. And now we know the rest of the story. Problem is, they are already beginning to do it again. MusingsbyMarian do tc om
Republican or Democrat does not matter, we, the employers, are been lied to for years. When both my kids started college, wife and I started college also. She was working 32 hours a week for about 15 years then, I work full time plus overtime for 21 years. When we all 4 started college, wife and I were not counted as ” employed ” for 6 years ” started 1992 ending in 1998. Looks like funny numbers to me.
Also how can our CPI be different than Congress CPI ?? Do we not use food, energy and homes ?? Very nice of Congress. So our cost of living is always lower than Congress, so our raises are never in line with Congress raises. We should fire Congress.
I have been trying to find a job for a long time. Have had several “contract” positions that did not last long but, when unemployment runs out and no jobs for a older worker are seemingly available, you have to do what you have to do. I have done a slam bang job on interviews and then “we are pursuing other candidates” email comes and it is like a kick in the gut. They won’t tell you this but, the worst discrimination is against people over 55 with no degree. They see the gray hair and you can kiss it goodbye!
…scandals and lies really ?
When you get a job every employer wants to start you at base pay regardless of experience. Then they want you to perform above your pay grade. You look for new work and get harassed by Schools and solicitors on line. It’s sad when you have a degree and some ass hole calls you about going back to school. We need jobs in our country and employers need to pay based on experience and quit saying everything is entry level. There is more to it then just corruption in the White House, Most Companies are Corrupt too! Obama, and most businesses only care about the “official” statistics that make them look good! Things are Bad Every where from the white house to where you work or don’t work. Every one needs to prepare for themselves and remember those who took advantage of you. The wheel is turning and those who can do things will prosper and those who can’t will fall. I’m tired of telling people to be aware-Know one cares and if they do they don’t want to hear about it. To all the Part Timer’s and Unemployed out there…Remember you already are struggling and surviving! I hate to say it but things are just going to continue to get worse. Never believe the Media or The Government. They do not care about you or this nation, they only care about themselves each in their own selfish way. I work part time too and try to make

I am indeed one of the underemployed folks out there. I would offer one correction to this article, and that is 10-29 hours per week. I am working in a position for which the company specifically offered only 39 hours so that they wouldn’t have to offer health insurance prior to Obamacare. Now my hours have been cut to 29 hours per week. Therefore, I have lost 10 hours per week, which adds up to a few hundred dollars per week (over $15,000 per year), and on top of that obtaining private health insurance has become more expensive. So, I make significantly less money, AND am expected to pay more money for health insurance that I don’t need! I am 27 years old, very healthy, and would rather not have health insurance anyway. This is nothing but another tax on being young, healthy, and productive.
Don’t forget that lack of government regulations over greedy banks led to both the Great Depression and Great Recession. Republicans were in control leading to these disasters. There must be government controls, but not too many. Don’t totally trust Republican or Democrat
Policies. Also don’t blame Obama for everything. It leads to questions about your honesty.
I don’t think the article says all problems are from Obama, but is pointing out the lies he is consistently making. I agree with you not a dimes worth of difference in democrats and republicans, 18 trillion in debt shows that as that is not just one party to make things that bad. I am all about doing what you say you will do, thus very hard to find for elected officials if you ask me. I want to give up on even following things, but that is what they want and they win, so keep looking for people that seem to have some sense and a track record to show they have been able to get things done. I understand that have to work through others and not everything can be accomplished, but if we do not get the spending under control I fear WW III will start when we can’t pay our debts and some countries want to have some of our land in repayment.
