Air Force tries to take God out of the equation.
Have you ever noticed that when it’s discovered that our government has done something against the will of the people, some official will step up and say that it was a mistake? Funny how they never catch their own “mistakes.” Funny how they only acknowledge these “mistakes” and make changes when other people discover the issue and make it public.
The latest case of a “mistake” that was found out is the U.S. Air Force taking the phrase “So help me God” out of three of its oaths in the 2012 edition of the official cadet handbook. In response – and the only way we will ever get results is to demand them – 28 members of Congress sent a letter to Academy Superintendent Lt. Gen. Michelle Johnson demanding to know why the phrase was removed. The oaths in question are the Cadet’s Oath of Allegiance, the Oath of Office for Officers and the Oath of Enlistment.
The Air Force claims that the omission was a mistake. Major Brus Vidal called it “an editorial oversight” and said that next year’s edition of the handbook will include the missing phrase.
Isn’t it interesting that the “oversight” occurred with the exact same words in three different oaths? And isn’t it interesting that no one caught the omission in the editing process, despite the fact that the phrase was part of these oaths for so many years? And it must just be a coincidence that it occurred under the watch of an administration that has done everything possible to take God out of the equation.
Chaplain Alliance for Religious Liberty Executive Director Ron Crews had this to say about the omission:
“This phrase is a deeply-rooted American tradition – begun by George Washington as the first president of the United States and now stated by many who take an oath of service to our country. The removal of this phrase is a disservice to the countless men and women who wish to include this phrase as a solemn reminder that they are pledging their fidelity to God and their country.”
Crews added that he respects the right of cadets not to say the phrase if they don’t wish to, but that the law requires that the words remain part of the oaths.
Do you believe that the removal of the phrase, “So help me God,” from the Air Force cadet’s handbook was intentional or an honest omission?
If all you idiots complaining about this would read the Constitution, you’d see that Article IV specifically forbids requiring any religions test in an oath to support the Constitution. Funny how you are all for the Constitution when it comes to the 2nd Amendment, but when it comes to the parts like Article IV and the Establishment Clause, not so much. Our boys are dying to maintain the artificially high value of the dollar! One of the main jobs they have entrusted the US with is seeing to it that Wahhabism is spread around the globe. Don, I think I have to disagree with you on one point: the movement to remove Christianity may have been subtle 8 years ago, but now it is blatant. They want to totally remove Christ and the Bible from the public square and criminalize those who hold to its unchanging standards of morality. There’s no way it’s an “…oversight.” That’s a bald-faced lie and he knows it. In reproductions of handbooks like these, it’s nearly always adding text to the existing document, some changing, but next to no re-phrasing of an oath that’s been the same for many, many years. Someone had to remove it under orders, I propose. A simple test would be to go back to a prior run of re-prints and see if anything was changed in the oath in the last run. It’s a no-brainer and shameful, especially to cover it up, or try. I just wonder if the part about refusing to following illegal or unconstitutional orders and attempting to convince fellow troops to do the same is still in there as I remember in the Regular Army. For instance, if given an order to fire on “radical American citizens,” is that now a litmus test for entry to our Armed Forces in the case of new enlistees and/or officers? Radical, in double speak, means, “Anyone who believes strongly in something,” like the truth and the freedoms guaranteed, formerly, decreasing by degree in many cases now, in our Bill of Rights, We are being overthrown from the inside out with the best methods money can buy and it didn’t just start with Obama. He’s just been the guy who has been allowed to do more damage to our Republic (in the true sense of the term) than all those who came before him combined, dating back to going off the gold standard and the creation of the Fed clear back in 1913. The phrase “so help me God” was removed on deliberately, not an over sight. Just as this administration is trying to remove the the words: husband, wife, mother, father, boy, and girl. I believe the phrase “IN GOD WE TRUST” was intentional. I do not know how many of you have ever read Franklin R. speech where he declared war on Japan, but he finished it off by saying “SO HELP US GOD”. When the new WWII memorial was finished several years ago, that last saying, “SO HELP US GOD”, was not on his speech. I do not know who left it off, but it was left off under Obama’s watch. That tells me he thinks there is not a Christian God. He is trying to get the US Mint to delete the notation, “IN GOD WE TRUST, off of any and all currency minted in the United States. Let’s send him back where he originally came from and it was not Hawaii or Chicago.

Sepearation of church and state was written into our constitution so that government could not run the church or make the church sway the political agenda of the leader of our country. Whether you believe in God or not our constitution was formed on the basic principles of life, the more we try to ignore, change and outright not follow he constitution then our values, beliefs, and foundation crumble and fall. You are not as familiar with the Bible as you think. Yes Jesus loved all and even wept over them because of their unbelief but called those leaders hypocrites, vipers, blind guides and that fox, because of their rejection of the truth. You criticize others because you are Sabbath worshippers and don’t stay in your place on Saturday but go to church. The original law said to stay in your place on the Sabbath but take your offering to the priest on the morrow after the Sabbath. Also, the morrow after the 7th Sabbath was no. 50 or Pentecost and that’s the day the church was baptized with the Holy Ghost. And the Apostle Paul said to receive the offerings on the first day of the week. You are the ones that changed the law and break it every Saturday. Jesus fulfilled the law and took it out of the way. Read Lev. 23, and 1 Cor. 16. You are more concerned about keeping the law more than letting Jesus take away your sins. Yes we can still love our leaders but criticize them like Jesus did.

The omission of “So help me god” form the handbook proves the incompetency of not proof reading their work. I suspect that the hand book was outsourced to some company that did not know or maliciously dropped the code. When solders can decide that they do not need to” Pledge of Allegiance to the flag” or say “So help me god”. God help use, This stupidity and disrespect is just a sample of what is wrong in the USA today.
The words “So help me God” were left out purposely. It’s sacreligious and God was there for many soldiers in the past and saved them because they prayed to God for help or to be found before they died or were captured. In the Army here is NO requirement to swear to any oath, or make ANY reference to God at all in any enlistment or reenlistment oath.
I spent my Amy career, 1964 to 1985, as an atheist and each time I reenlisted I AFFIRMED the usual reenlistment oath instead of swearing to God. It’s been an option for many decades, long before I initially volunteered.
I seriously doubt that any of the other armed Services can require you to swear ANYTHING with reference to any deity. I also suspect that this is long-settled Federal case law that any Constitutional lawyer can readily quote.

My atheism is irrelevant to my patriotism, or my 21 years of service, or the many combat decorations I wore on my chest. I stand behind no man in my severe distrust of the government, or my dedication to preparedness.

The one thing no one has mentioned is the antichrist who is on earth today. He was born in the early 70’s so that would make him in his mid forties. I remember many articles in major Newspapers talking abt this individual, reciting verses from the Bible etc. But he was a baby then and now he’s an adult. His presence is not to be known but to be felt by watching moral foundations crumble and God being pushed aside. Isn’t that what is happening now?

I’m 80 years old. At 18 I was ‘in the Korea conflict (1953) At early and late thirties I was in Vietnam (third infantry and 1st Infantry Division. Was in the military for 24 years. Not once in all these years I can recall not thanking God for our country and our safety. Wether we were right or wrong about the position we were in. we did our duty as required . All the time praying to GOD we were doing the right thing. Beyond our control we were placed in situations were we had to do actions that went completely against we believed. All the time asking GOD for guidance and forgiveness for doing what we had to do. Throughout most of my life I have never felt the shame. bitterness, disgust that I have come to feel these last few years of my life. Not of my country or its people, but of our so called leaders and representatives for the waste of young lives and faith that some of us had. I never thought the day would arrive when I would state from the bottom of my heart and soul, regardless of what level of government it is; city, county, state, federal, I despise you for taking away, no stealing from me, my faith and trust that I had IN MY COUNTRY AND ITS FOUNDATIONS.

The cowardliness of our legislators (congress) not to act has allowed this cancer to permeate itself throughout an already gravely ill Nation! We will suffer the consequences of this spineless oversight (the Obamination) for decades to come!

An outright attack on ALL muslim beliefs is not justified. I personally know some who abhor the ways of of the ISIS radicals. To them it goes contrary to what is taught in the Koran. The same differences exist in Christians, in fact all religions! The most important thing to remember is to embrace good and reject ALL evil.
Let those who wish not to say that as part of their oath. do so. The same wish should be granted to those who believe it is a critical part of their oath to include “So help me God.”

What geraldc is referring to is when Israel launched aircraft and torpedo boats against the USS Liberty in a failed attempt to sink her during the six day war. Israel claimed they thought Liberty was an Egyptian ship disguised as American. Israel later paid around $7 million in compensation to the families of the 34 dead and 171 wounded Americans. In 1980, Israel paid an additional $6 million for damages to the ship itself.

I was a proud young officer when I took the oath under God in 1959. Our president,then and most all of our presidents proclaimed thier faith in our creator,GOD. This president (B.O.) is a SOB and has every intention of destroying this great nation from within. He must be stoped!!
I served 11 years in the Air Force and it truly saddens me to learn of the actions being taken to remove God from military service. During my service I prayed often and sometimes rather loudly for God to help me in the decisions and actions I made while serving. As has been mentioned before … this is yet another sign that we are living in the “end times” but that does not mean that we need to be complacent about it. Whether your life references a christian God, or you believe in some other deity, it is still important that the oaths that you take and swear by reflect that respect for your deity. While christian religion may not be as widespread in the United States as in years past, it is still the predominant religion of our country and it is still important to acknowledge the power and strength that our belief in God has in our lives. If others that do not believe in God, or believe in some other deity, wish to not say the phrase “so help me God” they have every right to do so …. but removing that phrase from the oaths is a significant disservice to that thatDO want to reaffirm loyalty and dependance upon having God in their lives.

When this country was founded, it was based on the religious foundations of our Christian forefathers. Other than the American Indians, the only people that lived here were Christians, so it only made sense to include references to God in places. Times have changed. We are not a nation of Christians anymore, but that of Christians, Jews, Muslims, Wiccans, Pagans, Jedi, etc., and we need to recognize that as Americans we have every right to practice whatever religion we want, and that it’s hypocritical for us to force our beliefs on others. There is a reason Church is supposed to separate from State. While the military should not condemn our soldiers for practicing their own religions, they should not force others to recognize gods not of their own religion.

Obama keeps saying he is for the people of color and he is for the Muslims, and he will not condemn what inhumane things some of them do. Martin Luther King was a Reverend. He would not be defending criminal acts and inhumane acts. I think Obama acts like these people that do bad things have a right to kill and destroy. Christians get beheaded in Egypt because they are Christians. He can’t say that was why they got killed and goes against Americans belief in God and freedom of speech and religion. When I enlisted I swore an oath to protect and defend the Constitution of the United States of America. Neither I nor any other enlisted man /woman or officer takes an oath to protect the person who occupies the office of the president. If we now have officers who do not believe in God then our officer corps has gone to hell and each officer who so believes should go to hell!!We were founded as a nation by Christians and Jews who believed in God .Those who do not including Muslims should be prepared to rot In hell ,the sooner,the better .

In my day ( 1948 to 1954 A.F., Korea Veteran ) no pilot would think of taking off in the wild blue yonder without GOD as his co-pilot !!!
