Is civil unrest in America’s future? If not, why the increased show of force?
If you’ve ever watched the 1980 movie Caddyshack, you know how humorous some of the characters are. I think Ted Knight (who plays Judge Smails) is particularly funny. At one point when he’s talking to teenage caddy Danny Noonan about the lad’s recent behavior, he proudly says, “I’ve sentenced boys younger than you to the gas chamber. I didn’t want to do it. I felt I owed it to them.”
Well, that’s pretty much the message that the U.S. government is sending to the citizens of Salinas, California. The police department there has been given, free of charge, a 37,000-pound military-style armored vehicle, supposedly for the protection of the town’s citizens.
Slated to be used in SWAT team operations, the vehicle was built to withstand fire from handguns, rifles and rocket-propelled grenades. Salinas citizens immediately complained that it was frightening and unnecessary, but of course they were ignored.
Seems to me that this is just one more step toward the goal of turning the U.S. into a police state. The Department of Homeland Security has purchased billions of bullets and many armored vehicles, and the more they spread them around the country, the better equipped city governments will be able to handle the kind of civil unrest that could result from an economic collapse or a different kind of disaster. Does the government know something we don’t know about what is likely to happen in the future?
How would you feel if you were walking down Main Street in your town and saw a military-style armored vehicle awaiting deployment? Would you be curious as to why it was there and what the plans were for it? Why do you suppose the federal government is increasingly arming local police departments? I remember here in our city , not published, in the 60’s, the bootleg era, I know facts, and not here-say, that from the police department all the way to the Mayor’s office that they were all on the take, receiving bribes, money from bootleggers to keep from being raided to be caught and/or closed down. How do I know? I am a bootleggers son, who was arrested at the age of 16, by a Lt. policeman, who became head over the dept., now retired, just because my dad said he wasn’t going to pay anymore bribes. I had a record for over 35 yrs. because a greedy police Lt., carried a gallon jug of moonshine from his car to mine, stating LOOK what I found in your car. He told me to tell my dad to start back paying or all his kids would have a police record. These are facts. The police Rookies were the only ones who could not take bribe money. The police would come to my dad’s bootleg joint almost every Friday and or Sat. to get free music, whiskey, free beer, and even free money, just so they would not raid our joint. This is not here- say. FACTS. My question is this, are they any different now than then. My answer is NO! I may get some persecution for this, But God got ahold of me, got me out of that trashy way of living and now I have been preaching for 48 yrs., pastored 3 churches, interim at 2. Yes I carry now, and then, the difference now is I have to have a license to carry. This is my true testimony, what is yours, the one’s who read this. God Bless America and YOU. Get right with God, accept Jesus Christ as your Saviour and you may have to testify also to God’s goodness.
I usually agree with you but you naive people will soon see exactly what police are up against. What you see on the news every day from around the world is coming to a shopping mall , school , Christian church , synagogue College or NFL stadium near you . The terrorists will be armored more than with simple body armor and armed with RPGs and stinger type missles . That is just the way it is. So do you really want to see your protectors detroyed without having a chance to help you or do you want them to defeat these invaders and do there job?
It is up to the people to get informed and select their government. Politics start at the local level. Those that earn a living, pay the taxes, contribute to candidates, and vote can’t forget the rest since the deadbeats and the illegals down the street are out-numbering your vote. That doesn’t even count those that stuff the ballot box, forge absentee ballots, tamper with voting computers (not one vote reported for Romney in Philadelphia during the 2012 election!), word propositions to do the opposite of what they advertise, etc. Our schools are putting out propaganda that the Nazis would have been proud of. The national press is a politically correct front for socialists that slant what they selectively report. What several hour long videos are not shortened when they are released to the public? This is the media’s excuse for discounting the documented evidence that Planned Parenthood is selling fetus and baby body parts, breaking at least three federal laws, by stating that the videos are “heavily edited”. They never mention that the full uncut videos are available on the internet. Encourage your friends, neighbors and children to be critical thinkers. Be ready with specific examples of politician and media lies. Give them the information but you cannot force them to immediately accept what has taken years of brainwashing.
We are under attack – borders, culture, corruption, media, schools, courts, and it has been happening for decades. It won’t get better overnight. Are you up for the fight or waiting for the axe to fall with your survival food, guns, and prayer books?

I have listened to a lot of biblical “experts” over the years, particularly about the Book of Revelations. An anonymous person offered this definition of an expert. “Ex” is for a “has been” and “spert” is a misspelled drip under pressure. Works for me.

Personally, I believe we are concerned about the wrong things. We are not in control of the tribulation, the end-times, or anything else that God does. We only are in control of our attitude, behavior, and our willingness to use our gifts of the Spirit to become a part of the solution instead of part of the problem.
Consider this thought. Maybe the timing of the tribulation has something to do with OUR collective behavior. When God sees no other way for us to get our heads on straight, God has no other choice but to let the hammer down. The penitent survive; the rest perish. Maybe it is that simple.

Be careful Frank. Please remember that law enforcement is that thin blue line between order and anarchy. Those are military surplus vehicles and though over built for our (yes I am a cop), they can be an essential tool against terrorism occurring all around us. The people in those vehicles go towards the threat against our freedoms. We need the tools to do the job. Look at the Boston bombing while everyone ran away, who ran into the smoke? As an x EMT (due to multiple spinal injuries) and an x Federal Officer (due to hip and knee injuries) I have had ONE dealing with the cops in my town. A rural town. A kid turned off a main road and onto a side road where I happen to be sitting, waiting for traffic to clear so i could pull out. The kid partially turns onto the road, then decides its not the RD he thought it was and proceeds to swing back toward the main road literally tearing my entire front end off the car and cracking the frame of the car. He gets out of his dads truck with his friend and they BOTH say sorry it was our fault 100%, repeatedly!!! The cop involved in talking to me says it is 100% their fault. The cop talking to them finds out the driver is going to college to be a cop. Guess who writes up the report and who gets NO blame ? I do not hate cops…I have a friend who was a trooper (retired) and another townie cop (retired) and friends who are cops. But THIS COP..makes me hate the whole damn unit. I can’t stand to even see a cop in my town now because I seriously hate what he did and how no one did anything moral to stop him. Its a really pathetic piece of shit who blames the innocent 100% to cover a kid’s future who was honest. All he did was reinforce that power corrupts and he showed that kid before he even became a cop how crooked pay offs. I would LOVE to bring it to the attention of the entire precinct..but we both know what that would get me….!!! It is VERY VERY hard to trust the cops.
You can’t hate everyone for what that officer did. The accident would not have affected the kids career as an officer and you don’t have to go to college, to be a police officer. He likely was going for criminal justice degree. Just because someone admits fault to an accident doesn’t mean they have to get a ticket and if you read the accident report he should have been listed as vehicle 1 , or something to that affect, which represents him as the at fault driver. Everyone thinks that you have to get a citation if you are at fault. I, being a police officer, don’t always give citations, as the insurance increases, the destroyed vehicle and the mere fact that you may have destroyed someone’s life is enough punishment for some people. That’s right, we do take everything in to consideration. What’s a $200 fine on top of it? The $200 gets paid and no thought is given to the money but the other stuff lasts with you… Police officers do have compassion.
There are not enough cops to protect the citizens, and with Obama brainwashing the troops, and retireing high ranking officers, I do not think we could trust them to protect us.
The next ‘free phone’ you get in return for your vote will be mailed directly from UN headquarters…

My friend (whom is a truck driver) delivered a similar machine (prob identical and came from same place?) to the town of Fishers in Indiana. My friend and I had the conversation about ….. Why would the need or waste money on a machine like this that just scares society ?
It is 5/18/2015. Today Obama said no more armored type military vehicles, large caliber machine guns ( they showed a picture of a 50 caliber ammo box and machine gun) rifles with scopes that had a target range of app. 800 yards, grenade launchers, or heavy military weapons and vehicles would not be distributed to any more cities. Either they already have enough or this is another big fat lie to the American Public. There are probably cities already on a waiting list to get such items and they are probably grand-fathered into this speech of his.
Wow!!! I am just so glad everyone with a comment has done so. I know something in this country is terribly wrong. Born in the 50s each decade has brought on huge negative changes and consequences which are accumulating for the next generation to be born into more unrest and chaos. I see this as a desensitizing of Americans. Oppression. Conditions continually get worse in every respect. Our high school grads use to have a choice of line of work to go into. But, industry that grew this country’s economics for decades is almost gone. The next push was all grads need to complete as much college as the student could bear. Over education then stalled college grads from getting jobs. Oppression. Manufacturing is cheap outside the US so this country lost those jobs. Unemployment oppression. This country plays games with how numbers are reported no matter what area or subject is brought up. We are oppressed and we are being held in check…meaning we can pay bills but that’s it. I don’t think we have a future to worry about. Everyone is overworked, live in a state of exhaustion, are eating foods that make us sick and we will probably some time in the near future be forced to be vaccinated and/or implanted like we chip our pets because we care. But they don’t care. Our America has malignant cancer in every organ. I think you all have intelligent comments here, however, I’m not sure it’s going to be an event that happens near 9-13-15, this disease process has been progressing for decades and what we have next is death of our country. The first bans the importation of antique military firearms for sale to sportsman and collectors.. He intentionally mislabels them military grade weapons to deceive the sheeple, but make no mistake . . . The order was written specifically to ban the importation of surplus M1 carbines, M1 Garands, 1903 Springfields and other antiques coveted by collectors and sport shooters.
This order is the death knell for the civilian marksmanship program.
Congress had previously passed the sportsman protection act in 1986 which among other things guaranteed that the importation of the historic relics for collectors and the CMP would not be impeded by unreasonable regulations.
Unfortunately, most Americans have absolutely no idea what is happening.
The American people need to understand that Barack Obama is constantly looking for ways to integrate the United States more deeply with the rest of the world.

Yes I do have a thought what is going down. I believe without a doubt that the U.S. dollar is going to collapse in the near future because of this government printing an ungodly amount of money to cover the bills they are deliberately making that cannot be paid back. The gov’t is expecting civil unrest because they are creating it. The racial demonstrations we’ve seen recently are not spontaneous, but planned and paid for by someone close to the White House. The Washington Times published an article in January of this year, “George Soros funds Ferguson protests, hopes to spur civil action” by Kelly Riddell. It is definitely worth reading and tells what is really going on.

Well all I can say is Salinas Police Dept is finally catching up to many other State’s Police Depts! In Arizona, our Police have had Swat type Military vehicles for the past 4 years. Never once have they been used on the citizens; however, being a border state that have obama’s illegals sneaking into our state 24/7, including drug cartel members and criminals, vehicles of this type are a necessary evil.
Also, Salinas is full of almost 100% Latinos…legal and mostly illegal because they can easily get picker’s jobs in the fields there. Why do you think they might need those Swat type vehicles? Because that is probably the largest ILLEGAL population in California and when they are denied Citizenship, what do you think is going to happen? Riots with La Raza leading the battle, of course. There are times when just a Patrol Car and Motorcycle are just not enough…Swat vehicles will be the Police Departments extra power they need.

These “officers” seem to forget that “we the people” are whom they serve. They also forget that not only do they have to eventually get out of this vehicle but also they have to get into it. When they park their car to get into the vehicle they leave their car somewhere. They have to go back home and face their family and neighbors. They have to go to the grocery store and do all of the other stuff we citizens do. What kind of mentality they poses is going to come out and either be good or clownass. I don’t believe these vehicles will be any real threat in the long run. They are too vulnerable.
I remember seeing a FEMA camp being built while I was traveling through Florida. At the time I didn’t know what it was. This was being done in secret under the Bush administration. So was the patriot act, The secret FISA court, abolishing of the laws that restricted the media from being in the hands of the few, The expansion of the NSA all being done under a conservative administration.

The U.S. Military is downsizing right now, correct? They have a surplus of armored vehicles, as well as a number of styles they’re phasing out. The whole point of “giving” them to the local PD’s is to provide them with a protected insertion for active shooter, home grown extremeist, and terrorist incidents. The federal government knows that it cannot be everywhere at once, it is arming its “people” (to an extent) against these possibilities.
Now, if you feel truly paranoid about how these things are going to be used, then I have one solution for you. Join up with your local law enforcement. Stop talking and start doing.
I have served my country in the military, now I’m trying to get on with Law Enforcement. Why? Because I care. I care about my people. Its not my government and that rat in the office that I’m serving, its my people. I want to make sure that they are served in the right way, and so do about 99% of the rest of the Law Enforecement Officers out there. If you doubt that, look up the Iron Wolves. They should be able to give you an idea of what the real Officers are all about.

Everyday the news here in Miami-Dade county Florida is full of police actions against the citizenry. I was a staunch supporter until I was beaten three times for not following abstract demands and made a violent felon by ‘the system’. I did not fight back, one of the cops cut himself after hogtying me and shoving me onto the floor of his car. Somehow I did that. There is no truth, there is no justice, just cops on hormones wanting to beat the snot out of you. My town was recently given an armoured Humvee. I’m glad the cops got it. Do you remember back in the 90’s when the guy stole the tank from the National Guard out in California and went on a rampage ? Or how about the two bank robbers with the body armour who held off the cops for over an hour ? The police couldn’t get close to them. I’m glad to see the cops getting some help. When they start getting tanks, I’ll be worried.
If the big ass tank is to protect the citizens of Salinas against all enemies of the state, including the federal gov, then great. It it was given to the city of Salinas to do the bidding of the masters in Washington then somebody needs to read the COTUS which they swore to uphold.

The Sheriff of a large county in Colorado told me that up to 40% of the people crossing the border are drug trafficers, gangs, Russian Maffia, and terrorists. And this has been going on for many years. If that is true, they might have some very impressive weapons to use against us, so these armored vehicles could become very useful in combatting them.
However, under the current administration, which has already discarded the constitution and traded law and order for their concept of social justice, I feel that any scenario that I might dream up could be easily exceeded. Just take the armed invasion of the Gibson Guitar company as an example! And, IRS targeting of conservatives is another. And, have you noticed how many companies are being fined (shaken down) by the federal government and how many are being injured or put out of business by excessive and groundless regualtions?
Thankfully, most of the local law enforcement officers that I have met and talked with are good American citizens and I really don’t think that many of them would yield to unconstitutional orders from a corrupt federal source. I also think, and hope, that most federal law enforcement and military personnel are from the same wholesome American stock and would resist enforcing unlawful orders against the American public.
Of course there have been some isolated and localized instances, such as the taking of citizen’s guns after Katrina when thugs were firing on people, including rescue workers.
I believe that, if the voting public have the good sense to clean the corruption and ineptitude out of our federal and state governments during the next two elections, we the people can regain control and restore confidence and trust in our government agencies. Then we can look at things like the armored vehicles as our assets for law enforcement and domestic protection and have no fear of them.

I for one am NOT about to give up ANY RIGHT I have for what you call “security of our country”. But, I will say one thing, if we CLOSED our borders, not permanently, just until we stop the illegal entries, we could then reopen the borders to LEGAL immigration. THAT would enhance our security 300% more than what obama has let it deteriorate into at the present time.

And I can assure you that the ones that blindly follow orders and would willingly shoot American Citizens has to go off duty at some point just to sleep and it will be one of the ones that are on our side that will hopefully take that armored vehicle to the local gas station, fill it with gas [and I don’t mean the gas tank, either] and throw a torch at it and it will instantly become just another pile of metal waiting to be recycled!!!
