Temporary lodging was never this secure.
Imagine that your house was destroyed during a natural disaster such as a tornado or a terrorist attack. What would you do? Where would you and your family go? What would you do for shelter?
Even with a lot of help, building another structure in which your family could live temporarily would probably require a minimum of a couple of weeks, and it certainly would not be durable enough to handle an ongoing disaster or explosions. But a new technology that enables the fabric of canvas to become as strong as concrete could solve this problem.
A Concrete Canvas Shelter (CCS) is a rapidly deployable, hardened shelter that requires only water and air for construction. Two people with little to no training can set it up in about one hour and use it in 24 hours. This inflatable concrete building is made of a pliable form of canvas that hardens once it is hydrated and set up in the form of an 82-square foot or 164-square foot structure.
The CCS is delivered folded in polyethylene, airtight, water and rot-proof sacks. An electric fan inflates the structure, which is pegged down with ground anchors around the base. It is then hydrated by spraying water on it. The fireproof structure includes hard-shell, lockable doors for security. It’s designed to protect people, food and water, and equipment from weather, shrapnel, blasts and small arms fire.
This short video that explains and shows how it works. This type of structure would not only protect a group of people from the elements or armed enemies, but could also be used for group disaster relief or frontline operations. It can also be insulated with earth or snow placed against the outside building walls.
How would you like to have the assurance that even if your home was destroyed, you could have a sturdy, safe and secure structure built and ready to use within 24 hours? I think that would feel pretty good. Have you had any experience with these types of structures? If so, what is your opinion of them? If not, what do you see as the upsides and the downsides of such a structure? I’d love to hear from you about this interesting concept.
Sounds like it might be what I need.depending on cost and availability in Canada.
“FERRO-CEMENT”- Chicken wire covered with Cement(add crushed styro foam, to Lose weight).ANY size/shape..limited by BRACING available, at Construction, CAN be instant, otr added to in short breaks….ALSO,”Living the Good Life”, Scott &Helen Nearing/ 1970(?)..Stone & cement construction Possible by Lazy ELDERS….adapt, Folks…a SCHOOL BUS can be a Palace BEGINNING. The army used something like this back in the 1980s. and it wasnt cheap then either.
The correct web link for the latex concrete structure is:

A very good alternative is a latex concrete structure: athttp://velacreations.com/howto/latex-concrete-roof/
– Cost is extremely affordable and the materials can be purchased and stockpiled over time and kept indefinitely until needed. Better yet is to build a 1/4 scale model to prove to yourself that you can easily build this, then use the structure for a garden tool shed, storage, tornado shelter, etc. I personally utilized 4 Hypar sections for a 200sf (14’X14′) which supports itself and did it on my own in 3 days (I’m 71 and have a tough time mowing my lawn!). Research Hypar and/or George Nez the originator on the internet for details and design ideas. Hats off to a mortgage free, insect proof, tornado proof, latex concrete home!!
If you read your Bible you will know that you can only prepare for what you need. There will always be others out there to take it away or your life with it. We are in for some really drastic earth changes and not much that one can really do against that. For instance, Yellowstone NP and when that vulcano goes off, all that you planned gets buried under 10 feet of dust or burned up. You really have more to worry about with Earth Changes . So, take your pick. These things have always happened over and over. Read your Bible and relax. God is in control. Have you been fully Baptized? Better do this so when your time comes you can go easily without fear.
Love you, Waundra

Why not buy a motor home? You could move any time it became necessary. You could keep it stocked and ready to use.
Joan
Motor homes are very expensive and maintenance heavy vehicles. They are also not bullet proof nor fire proof. In truth they are fire traps and not secure. Further more they are easily spotted, require licensing, further taxation and cumbersome to operate.
They do not provide security nor safety. The only convenience they provide is mobility and that is somewhat clumsy.
how much?
No electric, no generator= no water supply, because we are on a well 500 feet deep. No water= no food or shelter. How will I be able to prepare my survival food without water? If you know where you are going, why fight it? Better off in heaven than here.
Invest in a solar well pump. I know a couple who uses one on their 500ft well.
The price is $53,000 (confirmed from a local rep, Paul). One also has to consider the other issues mentioned by Orrin. I like all these alternative solutions for shelter.
I tried to contact the company but they were unresponsive to an email. If some of you have someone that actually responds to email, a representative, I’d sure like to see his email address, etc. They also sell smaller batches in squares that can be delivered to the side of a hill, etc. I’m probably in the market, but…not if you can’t hear back from them.
I’d like a teepee.
Look, Guys, when SHTF there will be little or no government or building inspectors running around looking for code violations. Just buy the land, dig a well, and have portable power and your concrete dome or canvas shelter ready to be built. Just storing the materials on your property is no crime. Your emergency equipment, food, medical, etc can be kept in a nearby storage locker. Like a good chess master, plan backwards from your goal. Make a GANTT chart.
Yea they are nice and I would like to use a couple in sierra leone for mining accomodations. But the one problem I have us these fine people at the canvas concrete sites never answer any emsil. It has been about a year since this article first came out here and I tried to contact them about price, shipping costs and the such and guess what? I am still waiting for a reply. I gyess if you are not a government entity or don’t want less than a boatload if them you do not get answered.we did talk to someone once and they were to send a sample if the material and I suppose it us still on the way from their office to Texas which was not to far from my associates home.
I can tell you what is cheaper and that u s to tak e a 40 foot shipping container and cut it in half and make two vice decent living quarters as we did in the Kong area of sierra leone a few years sgo.

Awesome product Frank where can I find and can it be affordable for thpse of us who are barely making it . Thank you
i live in an apartment. i would have to shoot the ownwer before he would let me build a shelter on the lawn in back. plus this is for people who are well off finaclally. i’m on SSDI and government housing ,because i’m disabled. this is for the home owner. a rich one!!
Comcrete is porous. How do you stop water from coming through?
Concrete is porous? Don’t tell that to the billions of people living in concrete structures.
They’ve also made concrete ships
5000 PSI concrete is water tight, I have been building highways for over 30 years and dealing with water problems form springs to creeks and wetlands. 5000 PSI concrete is what the states and feds use for water tight issues.
Good grief, as usual only the wealthy would call this great, affordable, etc.
And yeah, grid down no electric, water limited; guess no rationing required for the few!
Frank, what was the saying “nothing new under the sun”.
Well, all the hype about mobile domes (with limited space areas, and many essential extras) have been answered many years ago. The inventor produced the concrete full size home (dome) by choosing a small hill and setting up a frame around it then covered the entire surface with stressed concrete by spraying. After the dome was dried a rented earth scraper was used to dig out the hill dirt and then water hosed the internal shell. What was left was a hollow shell of thick self supporting walls and ceiling that could then have windows and doors cut out and a floor plan construction put in.
For under $300 you can build a geodesic come and cover it with canvas and then wet it with cement to stiffen it and make it a bit more fire-resistant. There are plans for that 20′ dome, free, at DIY.cp,
For $30K, you could buy 6-10 40ft steel cargo containers – that’s a complete complex, not just a hut!
In southern Cali you can buy av gainer for $2000
Like most comments I read I would be interested but not at 30,000. Any alternitives. Thanks Rose
The “$30,000” dollar comment is for about 8 to 10 of those steel storage containers! You can buy a single 40′ Storage container for about $2K – $3K, and with a cutting torch, make a livable dwelling of it. In fact there are some folks who have already started doing this. I’d place the steel cargo containers on railroad ties or short pilings to keep it off the ground, or if you are going to sit it directly on the ground, put a heavy coat of tar or automotive undercoating on the part that comes into contact with the ground to prevent rust. The steel cargo containers are pretty handy things, if you have the room!
This unit reminds me of a MASH medcare facility.
I agree with several of the posts, $30,000, not many people these days can afford that. That turned me off immediately. Most of us are barely making it every month. It would cost a lot less to buy a sea train and fix it up to live in or even bury it. A sea train or cargo unit can be bought for under $5,000.
I too interested in purchasing one a reasonable rate. I would also like to be a dealer
I too am interested in purchasing one. And would be very interested in being a dealer for such a fine unit.
This is a truly impressive structure, however I am afraid that $30,000 plus is a bit cost prohibitive for most families. I know it is for mine. Are there any other alternatives that are a bit more affordable for most people???
Its not $30,000 that was a figure someone used if you bought 6-10 steel containers….
People read the entire comments….
This reminds me of a site I found a while ago for a company out of Texas that manufactures concrete shelters. Buildings similar in size to those sold by nunainnovations can be found at http://www.monolithic.com/topics/cabins The construction method seems a little different, but the end result is similar, and I think you could save significantly on shipping costs by buying the concrete mix locally. I have no connection with that company. I just found the concept interesting, and considered putting up one of their smaller buildings at some time in the future. I think it is worth looking into.
@Debbie, Wow…much less expensive than $30,000! It does look like more work and you would need some ability to be handy, but at a fraction of the cost. You could even buy the shell, then the components as you can afford them. These look terrific and super durable…I am also betting that depending on how much cement you use could be pretty insulated from the elements…including sound! ;)
Great comment, thank you!
What Happened to INFO about the Inflatable structure?
or, was that the Sneaky-way” to git me to watch u’r
provision-vid?!?
Not cost friendly for most of us, only the rich will live at these prices
where do I purchase a concrete inflatable structure?thanks
Have power inverter to set up in vehicles and run electric water pump . Need to know where to purchase?make this shelter. Personal modifications should be easy enough once the structure is stable. Let us know where to purchase and cost. Hopefully it won’t be so far out there most of us won’t be able to touch it.
Where can these be bought?
where would we get more info?
I did a quick Google search and found that they are now publicly available:
http://store.nunainnovations.com/concrete-canvas-shelter-7-person-25-m-shelter/
Thanks for the information Frank. I just called with a representative (Paul) and the version shown is onlyt $53,000. These would be good government solutions to a displaced group. But I am thinking the steel containers might be more affordable. But, still hauling and setting up would take a small village on either. Thanks for all your ideas :)
Hello:
I cannot find anywhere just where I could get prices of such product.Cordialy,
I too am impressed with this shelter. I wonder if it can meet local code and become a primary residence. I would to know how to get one and if it is possible to get one customized to fit my needs.
Well, you peak my interest. I would like to know more about this amazing building. Price would be my first concern.
Frank,
This thing has great potential for all sorts of applications! The big question is, can “John Q. Citizen” get this thing at a cost effective price. Based on the video it is a British made product.
I see some logistical issues with storage and transportation that will require some hefty additional investment.
1. Trailer and towing vehicle.
2. Portable generator and fuel to power the air pump.
3. An electric or gas powered water pump.
4. Access to water close enough to the chosen setup location, etc., but you get the idea.
If I could afford and get my mitts on a couple of these things I think they would be fantastic! One to live in, one for tols, supplies and survival food storage and perhaps a winter safe long-term aqua-ponic garden.
Sure would beat going totally primitive, living out of your BOB, while hunting, gathering and scrounging for shelter materials after a major Yellow or Red disaster event!
God Bless,
Orrin

I built 7 large domes -covered with dirt – 3200 sq.ft. – south side of a hill.glasssouth side — back in 87.
What plan B exits when the power grid is also down? Foot pump?
Frank, I’m interested in where to find these structures, and pricing
Sounds great, but how much does it cost and is it purchasable today. I would like to hear more about this structure.
I see no downside to this unit, with the sole exception of being able to get the US distributor to return phone or e-mail inquiries,.
A marvelous concept….can even be buried. Near-perfect rapid deployment shelter.
Very impressed with the canvas shelter. Would like information on where to find one.
