Some in Congress want to halt Obama’s overreaches.
The other day I was trying to decide what the biggest difference is between President Obama’s first term and his current second term. Both have been disasters, but I wanted to get at the root of what makes this second term even more appalling than the first.
Here’s what I came up with as the most significant difference. During his first term, Obama and his administration put a considerable amount of time and energy into covering up or explaining away all the lies and misinformation that the White House was dishing out. Wishing to be re-elected, he knew that the public’s knowledge of his mismanagement had to be kept at a minimum.
But now, with no re-election to worry about, why bother? Why take the time and energy to disguise the fact that he believes he is above the law. The theme for this term seems to be, “I’m going to do whatever I want to do, and if you don’t like it, too bad.”
Obama’s most recent illegal activities – about which he feels no shame as he seemingly dares Congress to stand up to him – is making changes in a law without Congressional approval. The law is the Affordable Care Act, and as despicable of a law that it is, it’s still a law and needs Congressional approval for changes.
But because he believes that he is above the law, Obama has just been going ahead and making whatever changes he sees fit, all in an attempt to keep ObamaCare from being so destructive that it will keep Democrat senators from being voted out of office in 2014.
Recently he decided to grant a one-year extension of the individual mandate for the millions of people who have had their healthcare plans cancelled. By some counts, this is the 14th time that Obama has overreached in his authority regarding ObamaCare.
At long last, some in Congress have decided to publicly oppose him. In an attempt to force Obama to abide by the U.S. Constitution, a member of the U.S. House of Representatives has crafted a bill called the Stop This Overreaching Presidency (STOP) Act.
Tom Rice, a Republican from South Carolina, says he has 34 co-sponsors for the Act, and that it goes well beyond Obama’s overreach on ObamaCare. It also targets his avoiding Congress on work requirements under the welfare law and the granting of legal work status to illegal immigrants.
“(Obama) is not carrying out his constitutional duty and I simply want him to do what he’s required to do by the Constitution,” Rice said.
Do you think this kind of Act has any chance of getting through the House of Representatives or the Senate? If not, what other actions should be taken to hold Obama accountable for his trashing of the Constitution? I’d love to hear from you about this.

What can you say when Obama stands up for the Muslim truck drivers yet sill not stand up for Christians? What about cancelling the Breakfast at the white house because of the Christians yet he allowed the Muslims for the same reason over the National Day of Prayer. Maybe he wanted to pray with his Muslims and not Christians. Why would he not attend Georgetown University for a speech unless they covered up all religious items including the picture of Jesus? Everyone keeps saying “Obama thinks he’s above the law”, That’s because he IS above the law. How plain can it be? He has violated plenty laws AND the constitution over and over and all anyone says is “he thinks he’s above the law”. As Dr. Phil says “past behavior is a good predictor of future behavior”….therefore it’s expected he will continue his unlawful actions with impunity, and why not, no one has stopped him in 6 years? Congress is also expected to continue their do-nothing approach as Obama wrecks our country and the world. They are all criminals and law breakers and the American voters willing put them in their respective positions of power and wealth.
If the house and senate had the balls they could have stepped in to stop this mess. With all this money being given away it is a sign that the dummy in Washington wants us to be a 3rd world country , but when he retires I can only imagine where he will be living.
The problem is, maybe 1% of the legislators give a rat’s ass about the Constitution. They rest agree, to some degree, with Obama. So they will never actually try to stop him. There may be bills presented, but they will fail by one vote; or, if they are passed, his veto won’t be overridden. It’s all a for show, to keep the power in DC, to line their pockets, to keep the grave train running full steam.

Everything that has been said i agree with, we all blog and complain, but we all need to be our own advocates. As we know it takes unity to accomplish anything, we the people should take charge and do more than complain. We can’t do this alone. Writing our representatives is one way, but it will take more.
We already have the laws we need but someone needs to enforce them. Congress would be the most logical choice, since their rights are being trampled daily. With years of complete lawlessness on record, surely someone in Congress could find a few good reasons to impeach and jail him and his whole administration. But who will step up?

It’s past time for this action against the overreaching of our President. Many things need to be changed, one thing at a time. I think this is a great place to start and will be watching for the success of this bill. I hope there are more like these 35 Representatives in Congress to support this Bill. Efforts by the “House” to impeach Obama, or curb his over-reach by Executive Order is futile as long as Eric Holder has his job, and as long as Harry Reed controls the Senate. If Republicans regain the Senate…perhaps he can be controlled.
Nothing is going to change until people en mass discover that there is a difference between a “Union state Citizen”, and a U.S. citizen. In short according to the Supreme court in a case named “Wheeling steel vr. Fox, the high court ruled that a U.S. citizen is a franchise of, and wholly owned by the federal government.
In 1966 the high court ruled that “both before and after the passage of the fourteenth amendment; it has not been necessary for a person to be a U.S. citizen in order to be a Citizen of the state where in they are domiciled” Crosse vr. Supervisors of the Board of Electors. Why should the government be forced to do the will of its slaves, (the U.S. citizens), government is supposed to do the will of the Posterity, (Union state Citizens). So, if you are not happy with the way you are being treated by your master, then go to “Family Guardian.org, Learn, study, and most of all share with your neighbors; or it is a sure saying that “we will all hang together, or we will hang separately”
Why does congress have to pass laws to stop a president who has already violated the law? Why not just impose “congressional privilege” and convict him as per the law? If they have to pass laws in order to uphold already existing laws, then that should be a red flag right there.
We all know Obama bought his last election using the poor and less educated help to vote for him. They came out of the bowels of society to cast a vote as did many non-citizens.
Congress did nothing about this or anything else to confront this tyrant. Shame on them, the ones who are supposed to represent the people of this once great country.

The other night I stumbled onto CSPAN-3 replaying the Nixon impeachment hearing in the House of Representatives controlled by the democrats. Every word the Democrats spoke could more than apply to Obama than they ever could apply to Nixon! Every voter should have to listen to those words before being allowed to vote. Impeachment is a necessity and the only way is to get Reid out of control of the Senate. Then bills passed in the House can get the vote in the Senate the way the founders set it up. All funding bills must be began in the House.

I think you need to make a clean sweep of any congressman who has been in office 3 terms as a representative and 2 terms if they’ve been a senator. TERM LIMITS. Our founders did not think we should have career congressmen/congresswomen. Impeachment is out of the question. The Senate will never convict him. Clinton, who committed purjury and admitted that he did, was not removed from office. Our country is so divided that an impeachment trial would be devestating. The best that can be done is to challenge Obama’s actions in the courts.
We as americans need to listen to both sides of the news fox and other and then as Glenn Beck says do our own homework and learn the truth. Then we vote for the man that believes the way you do, not by party. We need term limits on the bozos that stay in office until they have be carried to vote. All they do is go up there and get rich.

Phyllis, you should probably study WHY the founding fathers created the electoral college. The Progressives would probably love to get rid of it also, so all future presidents would be decided by California, New York, Pennsylvania, and Ohio. It is more necessary now than when first devised.

We send personnel and funds to make sure others have an honest election, how about having one here? There is no reason to use electoral college and no reason not to require voter registration. Elected Officials, do your job or get a new one!
Vickie, it is more important now to have an electoral college than when it was first conceived by the founding fathers. Otherwise the crowded (and very liberal) states like California, New York, Pennsylvania, and Ohio would decide all future presidential races.

Kevin, the 25th amendment says NOTHING about lawyers being allowed or not allowed being president. WHAT it DOES talk about is: IF the president becomes unfit to serve for whatever reason, how to get the vice president to cover his duties and when he shall be restored to office if ever.

Demand of your congressman / woman that they enforce the constitution and remove this NEW WORLD ORDER FACIEST FROM OUR MIDST!!! I understood how he got in the first time…people wanted change. Oh, they got change alright. The second term he ran on his appalling record…and still got in. How?? Now, the arrogant and condescending emperor pretty much laughs at the Constitution and does what he wants how he wants. This is a republic…not a dictatorship. The founding fathers, in their wisdom, set up a multibranched government JUST FOR LEADERS LIKE HIM…to keep them in check. The will of the people is supposed to be what is done by the government. So far reading all previous comments are all people that want to show how knowledgeable they are but have no balls to do anything about what I’d bring taken from them. If their neighbor was to walk in their house and take something so minute as their television, they would freik out and cause enough commotion the whole town would know about it for months to come. But when theirs and all loved ones they know us having their future, belongings, and possibly their life taken from them, they only blog why it is wrong and shouldn’t be happening.

James, I hate to bust your bubble, but George Washington was a Freemason. There were a bunch of others who were Freemasons who founded this country. The last President that I know of who was a Mason was Gerald R. Ford.
