Is the Obama fan base dwindling?
If it was possible for Barack Obama to be re-elected… would he? With all the scandals that have been uncovered recently, I’m not so sure.
Nearly every key Obama Administration agency has shown its true colors, with the IRS and EPA illegally targeting conservative groups for extra scrutiny, the Department of Homeland Security failing to explain why it’s buying up hundreds of millions of bullets, the Department of Justice spying on reporters, and the National Security Agency recording the phone calls and emails of law-abiding citizens.
Not to mention what appears to have been a cover-up on the Benghazi attacks that killed four Americans. We still haven’t heard the end of that one, and hopefully someone will be able to get at the truth so that the blame can be placed where it rightly belongs.
One of the reasons that Obama would have had a more difficult time getting re-elected is because even some of his staunchest supporters have become sickened by the lack of transparency in an administration that promised to be the most transparent administration ever.
Among those who have soured on the president are liberal Hollywood types such as Michael Moore and John Cusack. After the NSA spying was revealed, Cusack reportedly tweeted that “Obama is becoming the next Nixon,” while Moore tweeted, “The administration has now lost all credibility.”
Now, liberals such as Cusack and Moore would probably never have voted for a Republican or Libertarian candidate for president, but perhaps if the election had been held this year, they might have stayed home in disgust. And if enough people had done that in 2012, maybe we would have seen some real “change” and had some real “hope.”
How many scandals do you think it’s going to take before those who gave this administration another four years with their votes are going to own up to the fact that they made a mistake? What more has to happen before people figure out that we’re headed in the wrong direction? I hope to get your input on this.
So, WHAT’S NEW? Most of the open minded people saw this by the end of the first term……………The end of this term has just been a magnification of the first term…..you know that magnifying lenses expose a lot more to the light!
Interesting reads from all of you. Action is the answer to all our problems. Being well informed about issues, not taking a politician’s word for anything he/she says; but examining his/her actions and past voting record (which are available in published Voters’ Guide). And then going out to vote for the ones who have shown themselves by their actions to be true patriots of America. I don’t know if the entry above was a true statement that 4 million Republicans did not vote; or that only 37% of evangelicals voted (the figure I heard); but I know that way too many stayed home and did not vote. And I hold them as responsible for the state we are in as the crooked politicians that got elected. And those who voted without examining those they voted for are also at fault. We must know the issues and the candidates. We must inform ourselves and vote intelligently for the good of our country. And pray for God’s guidance to turn this country around- back to faith in Him. The single most important reason that Mr. Obama won twice is that Blacks, who represent 13% of national voters, voted 93-95% for him. This overwhelmed the 72% “majority” White voters, who voted 59% for Gov. Romney, or only 39% for Obama.
The down-and-dirty math for 2012: TOTAL votes cast: 129,062,233. Obama: 65,907,124. Romney: 60, 931, 731. Total Black voters : 13% of the total. Blacks voted for Obama 93%. 13% of 129,062,230= ca. 16,788,000. 93% X 16,788,000= ca. 15,612,000=Black votes for Obama .
Subtract ca. 15,612,000 from 65,907,124 (Total votes for Obama) =ca. 50,295,000 (Total votes for Obama net of Black voters). 50,295,000!!!!
Similarly, Black votes for Romney: 16,788,000X .05=
839,400. Subtract 839,400 from 60,931731 (total votes for Romney) = ca. 60,092,000 (total for Romney net of the Black voters.)
Therefore, 60,092,000 exceeds 50,925,000.
And, net of only the Black voters, Romney beat Obama by over nine million votes!
I am quite positive that the Electoral College would have followed suit.
It is true that 71% of Hispanics, representing just 10% of the total votes, voted for Obama, but this ALONE was probably not enough to change the outcome. Or, “too close to call”, by my math.

Incidentally, among White voters, Romney beat Obama by 20%, 59% vs.39%. In contrast, in 1988, Bush 41 beat Mr. Dukakis by the same 20% margin among White voters, but Bush 41 beat Dukakis by an overwhelming margin among all voters. And White voters THEN were 85% of the total voters, compared to 72 % today! Times change!
Nope, it is political correctness and being fearful of offending a minority group that has shown their ugly militant head in the BLM movement and the demand for return to segregation like this country once suffered through, but with them being in control and forcing the majority population to pay them to continue living.
Study older history books about the period after the Civil War and Reconstruction. Learn from history or it will repeat itself again and again as has begun to happen with the demand for “safe spaces” and refusal to accept everyone as roommates (even if they can pay their part of the rent easily) like just happened near one of the universities when students advertised for a roommate and only allowing POC to apply.
The promise was “hope and change” right? I know I’m still hoping for a little change in my bank account at the end of each month. To his credit, he has caused the largest increase in civilian firearms purchases than any other person in the same office in our history. In God we trust and don’t turn your back to this administration.

It is most interesting to read all of the opinions and ideas that come from “free thinkers”, and confirming to read the comments of the “followers” who have locked into remarks about most everything. The latter is disappointing, but it certainly explains why some creative and innovative ideas cannot be sold to the general public at times.

Have you ever watch a person walk down the street? When they step off with their right foot, they tend to lean towards the right. When they follow it up with their left foot, they shift their weight towards the left. Yet, this person walks a straight line. So it is with politics. Like a pendulum the country will go right then left with the understanding that the country will remain on a straight course.
The Government, however, is not a person. It is made up of people that have formed groups of like minded people. These people will make changes, the rules which they govern themselves and others by, with the hope that these changes will benefit themselves and their like minded people with laws that will support their intentions.
As the pendulum swings back in the opposite direction, these people are shocked at the prospect that they will have to be held accountable, responsible for their actions. It doesn’t matter if you are a Democrat or Republican, if you are a Conservative or a liberal, if you are a hawk or a dove, if you are on the right or on the left, or if you are just sitting in the middle hanging on for dear life. The bottom line is this: when in office a representative must consider the welfare of all the people. He must seek the middle ground. Not everyone will like it, nor will they appreciate the hard word required to make such a decision.
But to put a group of like minded people before the rest of the people, to set them up as the first one in line for receiving the benefits of change, is not only
immoral, unforgivable, but detestable. An action that has put this country at risk.
When a President sets the tone throughout his administration; his subordinates will take his lead and see to it that his wishes are carried out. Some of these subordinates will take advantage of the President and work independently, selfishly, greedily for their own means.
President Obama has been unable to get Congress and the Senate to work together. Both Congress and the Senate has been embroiled in a blame game. They have been to busy blaming each other that the President had to resort to Executive Orders to bypass both Houses. If these Executive Orders were brought to light for all to see; we the people would be shocked and mad as hell that President Obama had resorted to this form of government.
Who cares who is to blame? There is work to do, a job left undone. People left without leadership. Seasoned politicians at a stand still. Replace them all – fire their dumb asses. This will give these politicians the rude awaking they needed. It will demolish their political machines. It will give the rest of us a fresh start with a new outlook. We must be careful about the cooks, scammers, the lip service politicians. As quick as they are to sell us down the river; we must be just as quick to remove them from office. We must over turn the unjust laws. We must hold our Government officials, be they work in the Federal Government, State Government, County, or City Government.
This problem must be attacked on all levels of our Government at the same time in order to root out the incompetence. We as citizens can no longer afford to be complacent any longer. We own the store, government, and we must keep an eye on our employees, representatives, or they will rob us blind or burn the store down. We need to organize and stay vigil. Long gone are the days that a man voted to a position of power can be left to his own devices. If he is to become a public servant then let him serve, with supervision.

I agree that part of the problem is that Americans have been dumbed down by our education system and through the manipulations of our government, including the politicians. But I think the problem is bigger than this. Our politicians are only interested in staying where they are… They give lip service to say some of the things that we, the American public, want to hear but then cave and go along with whatever to save their skin politically. During WWII the International Monetary Fund, Europe’s major bank at the time, funded both sides of the war so that they would be on top of the heap no matter who won the war. I think today’s politicians are doing the same thing. They don’t care who’s in office (except for those who are looking for power) as long as they get to be in the political or economic elite. I don’t trust any of them, I’m sorry to say…. The republicans claim they want less government but every time they are in a position to do something about it they increase government. OB was a poor candidate with relatively little experience… yet he beat the best the GOP could offer. Twice. If he’s soooo bad, how come the GOP didn’t/couldn’t win? Platform… that’s why. The GOP’s platform has the depth of a mud puddle. Who’s the leader of the GOP, really? $1 Billion spent and they lost the last presidential election. The GOP party is way different now than in the past.
I’m a registered Republican and I’ve voted for more of their opponents than ever… for the last decade. The GOP spurns women by telling them that politicians (mostly men) should be able to control women’s reproductive rights, yet they support the death penalty. Ask a women you trust if she thinks that makes sense. That’s one example of poor politics.
Here’s another. What is the GOP’s plan for insuring the 45 million folks in the US who had no insurance before OB Care? What ideas were they promoting… 2nd amendment rights? Did they propose a sensible alternative for health care and solicit support across parties? Tell me when the GOP offered a practical idea and obtained support across parties.
If the GOP is taking their lead from the Tea Party, they will continue to be the minority party.
The GOP is moaning about OB while offering nothing practical that is worthy of support. A job program? A plan to revitalize US industry? A long-term energy plan with minimal impact on the environment? The GOP platform is thin… easy to figure: whatever the Democratic party is for, they are against. Abundant tax breaks for the extremely wealthy… yes. Diminished help for anyone below the poverty line… yes. Unlimited political power for foreign-funded PACS… yes.
Show me a GOP leader in the that is widely respected either here in the US or abroad. Tell me how they plan to deal with important issues, then I’ll consider supporting them.
It seems to me that the GOP is interested in principally serving the wealthiest US citizens.

How about all of the polling places run by dems, that allowed people to vote more than once or voted themselves more than once, or, the fact that Military votes weren’t counted. If no other votes were counted, the Militaries should have been. Interesting that it is the dems that don’t want voter I.D., but you have to have one to do just about anything else in this world.

Your perspectie of what government should provide is warped. Governement is in place to maintain infrastructure and order. Its up to a free market t decide what works. In your mind it’s a bad thing to let corporations keep more of their profits to decide how to reinvest for growth?

I go to town meetings and participate. When it comes to voting, I am there each and every time. I support the local food bank with donations. I and my wife volunteer at the local animal shelter. When the President, Vice President come to town, I try and to be heard respectively. When my Senator shows up in the area I speak my mind. If these people don’t follow my conscience I then vote them out of office. If they really screw up I drum up a petition to remove them from office.
So I ask you again, “What is your excuse?”

Cliff, you have had some great comments for this thread. It appears you do more for your community and country than most Americans can ever dream of. If only more people had the audacity and resolve to make a difference for the better. Can only imagine where things may be with a well informed populace that isn’t afraid to speak their mind. It appears that the powers who be have done a remarkable job of dividing America so everybody is pointing fingers at someone else. Very little will ever get resolved if everyone has to discredit the next person in line or the blame game continues on.
There is plenty of blame to go around to both Democrats and Republicans throughout American History. It is just in the last few decades that things have gotten really bad, and that can be, hell—-is entirely attributable to the continuous erosion of our national pride and religious zeal. We, as a nation, have let our personal wants and desires for a better life, cloud our faith in God’s teachings, and we are now paying the price of reaping what we sow.
As for certain elements of society electing idiots to represent us and our ideals, sadly one has to look no further than California to see what outrageous affect such foolish elections have gotten sent to our Government’s capitol. Admittedly, not all of California’s representatives have been idiots. One of our most highly esteemed Presidents was once California’s Governor before he became one of our most influential world leaders, namely President Ronald Reagan. Sadly Illinois has produced a litany of idiots, including our latest and one of our most prolific examples of political malfeasance and self-servitude, who initially gained the trust of enough of our nation’s electorate to become the World’s most prolific orator, as well as our nation’s most divisive President, who was elected to that lofty position by a majority of well-intentioned citizens who were duped by his duplicity and shameful lies. Thou shalt reap what you sow, has never been more correctly stated. Never before in our nation’s history has the President been so dis-ingenious with his constituents, as has Barack Hussein Obama in his administration’s handling of the vile contemptuous lack of leadership by allowing the murders of America’s own Diplomat and courageous military and civilian warriors at the unforgivable eternal stain known world-wide as Bengazi. Anyone with any military experience is keenly aware that his lack of leadership, along with the politically-correct military hierarchy who perpetuated this unforgivable debacle, were complicit in the inevitable, totally preventable outcome their lack of foresight and preparedness caused.

I felt from the beginning some “force out there” decided he had charisma, could lie well, could become a dictator, and could tear our country apart and turn it in directions that those of us who have lived long enough to know how our country used to be, certainly don’t want. Then by any crooked means they could find to do it, they got him elected a second time. Hopefully that wasn’t the final nail in our country’s coffin! I think there are enough older folks who liked America better as it used to be, and maybe enough younger folks who are smart enough to not agree with what is happening, that our country can still be saved. I think there needs to be changes made long before the next election though! That could be too late!
I just hope he doesn’t manufacture some crisis in order to keep himself as eternal dictator for life.

When a man sows, he will reap that which he had put into motion, not only for himself but for others around him. The law of averages will determine how successful he becomes despite the right or the wrong of his decisions. The responsibility of his decision is solely his own. But the ramifications of his decision belongs to all of us and it will continue until another decision is made.

Yes our elected government officials have been bought and paid for. So what else is new! As I read all of these responces, all I hear is whine, whine, whine. When do I start seeing action, action, action… Although no one will admit to having voted for these self serving representitives, they’re in office arn’t they? What are you going to do about it people?… Are you going to sit around and wait for the concetration camps to start showing up? You remember what a concentration camp was don’t you?
The concentration camps are already being built and many already stand ready on Fort Benning, Georgia. A mere drive around that installation is scary of what is going on.
Earl, our government officials haven’t been paid for – they sold their heritage along with our rights down the river for chump change. That is the way of greed. The power that they possess is only from the office’s that they hold. He that pulls the purse strings calls the tune.
I for one march to a different drum. I watch, I listen, and I understand the environment in which I am surrounded by. I need help. I need you, the people, to get out of your comfort zone and become self aware of your environment as well. Together, in one very loud voice and the willingness to act we must made a change, a difference that will ensure that our way of life will continue, teach my children of their heritage, how to use it, keep it near and dear to their hearts, and to teach others.
I voted for President Obama, because he was the lesser of two evils. I’m a Republican and I am sorry to say that the Republican Party is so disconnected and disjointed from the people, the needs of the people, the direction which this country should move forward in that YES, I VOTED FOR OBAMA.
Remember, the men that were running for president in the Republican Party? Most of them were found to be as crooked as a dog’s hind leg. So I say, I made a good choice when all is taken into consideration.
Now ask me, if I am happy with President Obama? No I am not. I supported him with Obama Care, which I knew needed some major tweaking. But I was really shocked to see some many Government officials trying to get their dirty little hands into the cookie jar to grab some of the money that was to go to Obama care. The republicans were upset because they were aced out. They talk the talk; but can’t walk the walk.
It is our fault because we allowed the lesser of two evils to run for president. We should have put in a candidate that is beyond reproach – there’s gota be a candidate out there somewhere – and have them run for office. After all would you really trust your Federal or State representative to run for president? I can say there isn’t any one I would recommend here in California.

Obama’s base is mighty unhappy with him. But that is because he has capitulated and backed up from many of the things the people of this country want, to appease republicans.
What do we want? Jobs. Health care. Safe working conditions. Protection from predatory lenders and corporations. Safe food to eat; safe water to drink. Safe banking to save our money without fear of loss. Good schools for our kids. Police and fire when we need them. LIbraries to enrich our minds, and encourage creativity and learning for children.
If you support republicans in any stripe, alas, they no longer stood for what they used to. The great highway system was built under Eisenhower – who incidentally- warned about the coming military industrial complex. This nation was built upon the GI Bill and the WPA during the depression that lifted regular people out of poverty and despair. We need another program like that to fix our crumbling bridges and highways, shore up the infrastructure of electricity and sewer, to invest in clean energy, provide health care for everyone (think of the jobs that would be created!), and enhance our failing school system so that we can compete with the rest of civilized world, because they are going to leave us in the dust, and we are going to become the next low wage country in the world, with untrained, uneducated, sick and hungry masses who will do anything to get by.
First off, it would be a very hard sell to think that Obama’s failures and shortcomings have anything to do with appeasing anyone outside of his followers, let alone republicans.
When it comes to capitulation, you must own up to fact that his capitulation is a knee-jerk reaction to his lies and extreme lack of transparency. His skill at public speaking and deception is the only asset that has enamored himself to his minions. That being said he has also created a divide in this country, that many would say is the widest chasm seen in this Republic in a quite a few decades, if not the widest.
Our loss of jobs can also be traced to Democrats and of course some others that sold out for their own personal gain. While almost the entire citizenry in this country was against NAFTA, Clinton and other self serving politicians pushed it along its way touting it would be good for us.
Overnight jobs left, the major manufacturers going to Mexico and other low wage countries. Did you hear me, I said overnight. We the people knew that because, in part due to historical gains from unions and our safety standards we were indeed paying our workers more, but we also had assurances of the quality of the goods and legal recourse if they endangered or didn’t measure up to our standards.
The predatory lending practices can also be traced to Democrats. Our banking system was separate from our investment system. Banks stayed profitable by practicing a higher level of care to all their customers, the majority of which were everyday citizens. When the Democrats passed legislation allowing them to merge and practice investment banking they became predatory. That is, it became more profitable to con people and invest their assets for their own gain.
If you would do some thorough research you would also find that the WPA, although getting some projects done, did nothing to relieve the depression. In fact the government again was spending money it didn’t have. World War ll got us out of the depression.
Most everything else you have noted, if you go back to when they started their decline is also attributed to the self serving politicians. None of our systems were considered second to anyone’s. What we needed was to improve on them rather than destroying them because of the few that whined the loudest.
From the early fifties to the Republican majority in the early nineties both the house and senate were controlled by the Democrats. Almost all of the backward progress can be directly attributed to them and of course others that felt they could in some way shape or form gain for themselves.
OUR Government no longer represents us, either republican or Democrat. They all have been bought and paid for.

Have you ever thought…the government has been running these programs to utter failure. Let the free market take care of the situation like improved highways, clean energy ( drilling for oil in this country) with the best technology to greatly minimize fallback. These are simple solutions but to many politics prevent simple from taking place. When you can think on your own and do your due diligence then and only will the light come on.
Pdts, What we need is an accounting from every state in the Union. Every State has taken State Fuel Taxes out at the gas pump. These taxes are suppose to go into a fund for infrastructure that each State has set aside. These Fuel Taxes are to fund the infrastructure in each state, to go towards the repairs and/or the replacement of highways, roads, and bridges throughout the State.
Unfortunately, each state has cheated itself and its citizens by using these funds for other State projects and programs. The State has always said that they had to, needed to, borrowed these funds with the intention to reimburse their highway funds. However, due to the amount of time that the States have “borrowed” these funds, compounded by the down-turn of the economy; all the Stats can no longer afford to repay their highway funds. They just don’t have the money. Thus, they stole the money from its citizens. The States are in a pickle. They can not afford to return these funds nor can they afford to repair their infrastructures at the same time. The only thing to do is to try and pull the wool over your eyes. They will say that they will need to add a penny tax to improve the infrastructures. They will say that the Federal Government will put up half of the funds providing that the State comes up with the rest. It is all lies and half truths. You must dig deeper and get at the truth. Why? Because if you allow the State Government to get away it this time you will find that they have had their hands in the cookie jar for something else. Once a thief, always a thief. Once a liar, always a liar. Is this who you want working for you? I don’t. Your State will and must raise your taxes. You will have to pay for the same thing twice; due to mismanagement by your State.
