Obama’s remaining time in office is “too long”
Are you and your family better off than you were in 2008 when Barack Obama was elected president? If so, you are in the minority. A recent Fox News poll revealed that only 24 percent of Americans believe that their personal situation is better now than it was in 2008.
Many people blame ObamaCare for the fact that they are worse off than they used to be. By a 54 to 37 percent margin, voters say they wish ObamaCare “had never passed.” That’s certainly because they’ve either lost their health insurance or their rates have gone up a lot.
Remember when Obama promised that the average American family would save $2,500 a year if the Affordable Care Act passed? Gee, what a surprise that he and many other Democrats would lie to get their legislation passed.
As bad as the situation is, one good thing that the poll showed is that the majority of those people who are dissatisfied with the current administration will vote against Democrats in the next election. A majority (53 percent) of responders to the poll say that the number of days Obama has left in office is too many.
The economy is the number one issue for voters, according to the poll. The lack of jobs and excessive government spending are the two biggest factors underneath the economy umbrella for voters, with income inequality and taxes also mentioned.
This is an issue that I would really like to hear from you about. Do you feel that you and your family are better off or worse off than you were in 2008? And regardless of your answer, please tell me why you feel the way you do.

I lived and worked on the Texas Gulf Coast in Port Arthur. It was bad when the BP Deep Horizon spilled oil and contaminated the coast. The real disaster was when Obama stopped drilling in the Gulf because it was too dangerous (and then sent billions to Brazil so they could drill off-shore). Our rigs pulled out and the refineries, which had billions in construction going at the time, stopped all construction activities and laid off hundreds of highly-skilled workers. I worked construction, too. My city laid off workers because people couldn’t pay their taxes, a large percentage of houses were for sale, many short sales. Then I finished my projects and got laid off, too, and my house went on the block. With my credit ruined, I couldn’t get another job in my field, anywhere.
I’ve been unemployed about 5 years now. During that time, I’ve applied for jobs from $7.50 per hour to $100,000 per year. Am I better off? Hell, NO!
Sorry folks, one man does not run this country. Look to large corporations and the Military Machine. The presidents position is a joke. All he can do is try to lead the people in a direction and sell programs the Congress and Senate want to pass. He think you can choose to change the Great Washington Machine? How about George W. He got the position without the popular vote! He spent the next 8 years ripping this country apart with a war we should have never started. That is the corporations and military machine running the country. The needed to grow so they did what they always have, make a war so they could get big fat contracts. We are far worse off now than in 2008. We are even thinking of filing bankruptcy things are so bad. We have had to go $10,000 in credit card debt due to the high costs of everything going up including utilities, gasoline, food, etc. Due to the poor economy I could not find a job. Even Wal-Mart never called me in for an interview. It’s sad what he has done to our great country. I only hope we can survive as a country these last 15 months that he has left. Of course, if he declares Martial Law he will remain the occupier in the White House indefinitely. (Worst case scenario!) Hope that never happens. I will keep praying for our country and our troops to keep going until we can change leaders! Can’t be too soon!
I’ve heard the horror stories about Obama Care but at the same time it’s still a crime that insurance companies are allowed to make decisions about what health care we get. Where else in the World does this happen? Did the film “The Big Short” get it right about how Wall Street Banksters nearly crashed the World’s economy? I’d say we might be better off now than if that had happened.

I know we are a lot worse off than we were in 2008! We had part-time job income then, added to Soc. Sec. My husband did retire, but I got dropped from my job due to the economy, and lost 1/3 of our monthly income. We were able to pay our bills in 2008, and go out to eat now and then, and even have a little money left. Now we are lucky if we can pay our bills each month, and there is never any extra money left at the end of the month (or before). Plus, we are limited in any shopping to just immediate needs, and we used to be able to have a few extras. Anything extra like doctor bills, medicines, needed repairs, are all a BIG worry now!

From 2008 my company and my family have faced economic disaster.
I think that my family and I are worse off than in 2008. The reason for this is because of all the closing of the coal mines in WV. This has made the economy bad in this area. More people are having to go on welfare. I guess this is part of the plan of the government to get more people to be more dependent on them. It is a control thing, the more people they can control the more they can do with out the people doing anything about it!!!
That’s why WV’s hunt! They’re independent but also have to hunt wild game to put food meat on the table! They’re smart people who also want to take care of themselves.
I think it’s time everybody quit talking about it and get off of our behinds and do something about it. Everyone talks about it but no one will stand up for our rights. We just sit down and take what they dish out.
Yes So true. How many people that are worse off now planted a garden. Till up your lawns and plant food not grass. Provided you didn’t use weed killer on that soil. The time spent cutting and trimming grass should be spent raising food. Home grown food would also be healthier for you. If you we’re eating heathlier, getting excersize, and fresh air maybe people wouldn’t need health care that much. That right, quit talking about it, and get out and do what you can for YOURSELF.

At this point cutting off the head of the snake wont do much justice. The snake in the grasshas been feeding for so long and has gotten so big that it would be easier to burn the whole snake, eat whats still good, and throw away the rest.
What i mean by that isnt a complete government overthrow of any way, but it doesnt come down to one person creating the problems. There are alot of politicians involved that have their hands in something that is making them money on the side. These guys are all bending the rules to line their own pockets and sticking everyone else with the bill in the meantime.
How hard could it possibly be to say, ok we need to tax companies more for jobs they ship overseas since they dont want to be an American company and help keep America going. Those are the jobs that people miss having around. Not everyone in America wants or needs a college education, debt, and than a job that takes 30 years to pay off that debt plus other expenses. Not to be mean but some people just want to live a normal easy factory worker, or small shop of any kind owner or anything else that doesnt take a college education to make a home living. Maybe thats why there are so many on unemployment or welfare. They arent qualified to do jobs they have no knowledge or understanding of. We the people of this country shouldnt have to work our ass off to make someone elses pockets fatter. We should just be able to all live comfortably in our lives making an honest living!

I have been fortunate to not have been directly affected by ObamaCare. Of course, we are all being hurt by the ever-increasing, unsustainable national debt required to fund it and other federal programs. What really bothers me is that Obama repeatedly overrides Congress with his executive orders, and they will not do anything to stop him, so it looks like we are stuck with what we have for the next two years.
Unfortunately, I fear that the Republican Party establishment still doesn’t get it. We don’t need another Bush or Christie for our next President. Nominating one of them will only cause more people to either sit out the election or vote third party. Then we may be looking at President Hillary, with all of her baggage.
Personally, I like Ben Carson. While I don’t entirely agree with him on all of the issues, I think he is intelligent and honest, and will stand up for what is right. He is not one of the insiders, so he would serve the people, rather than the special interest groups.
If we have any hope of turning this juggernaut around, every one of us needs to get involved in the election process early. We have to find good, well-qualified candidates, not only for President, but also for Congress, support them, and vote for them in our state’s primary or caucus.

As a Lame Duck president there are three possibilities that President Obama can do: 1.) The right thing by the American citizens. Well, we all know where we sit on this one, don’t we. It will never happen. There has been too many secretes withheld from the American public, double dealings followed by double talk to mislead if not out right lie to the American public. 2.) President Obama can say, “to hell with it” and ruin everything more than it has already been. He could pull a G.W. Bush number on the American people and let the Government go to hell in a hand basket. Or 3.) He could continue on with his course and screw the American middle class and have us believe it was sunshine. Someone is going to have to pay for all of his special programs and you know that it isn’t going to be the super rich or Corporate America; his sights are on the middle class. Then he is going to dance his way off the stage with a smile on his face, knowing that no one will ever vote for him to be President, much less dog catcher, ever again. Someone is going to have to pay for his Obama Care program, someone is going to have to pay for the 4 trillion dollars of his latest proposed new Government budget, and someone is going to have to pay for all of those agencies and departments that were caught red-handed embarrassing themselves as well as the country; after all there is a party with their name on it just around the corner and maybe they will out do themselves without getting caught.
No matter how you look at it we are screwed. So lets do something we haven’t done in a long long time. . . start looking for a qualified Presidential candidate. we don’t need retreads that have failed to make the grade these last 8 years, nor do you need a loud mouth over weight turkey from New Jersey either. Lets get someone that has proven himself. Lets get someone that will not let the party politics get in the way. Look you candidate over very carefully, do your research, and listen to him with your eyes closed. This way you will hear the lies instead of being hypnotized by what you see. And don’t let the News Media spin the BS. They take great joy in pulling the wool over your eyes too.

Right now, Obama’s problems are manufactured by the conservatives or caused by the Bush2 administration. Obama may not be a perfect president, we get it. But he is no worse than most white presidents. And as President, he should be treated with respect. You say the President of the United States deserves our respect – and you are right, he does and he has it. However, we as American have the GOD given right to criticize our leaders when we feel that they deserve that too. Every person has a flaw that another may disagree with, including the President. I consider myself a patriot just like you do, just like you we both exercise our Freedom of Speech and we exercise our right to vote. But I have learned never tell someone what to say or how to say it because I may find it offensive. In fact, I find a lot of things offend me but I have learned to turn a blind eye, along with a deaf ear, which comes in handy when I find that someone is saying something I don’t care to hear or see. Allow me to suggest that you too learn these techniques or you may find yourself at the end of someone’s wrath, or worst, having to defend yourself when someone didn’t like what you had to say.

Rosemary, it is apparent you forget what started all of this mess in the first place. Let me refresh your memory. Who was president or on watch before 911 happened. Clinton! The pilots that crashed the jets into the Pentagon and the Twin Towers were trained in the US while Clinton and the Democrats were ON WATCH. Bush inherited a major screw-up by Clinton Administration and the Democrats.
But, before that they had a chance to squash the whole thing before 911 happened. Remember Osama Bin Laden? If you remember correctly, Oliver North was chastised and became a scapegoat for the military. He was asked by Congress why he put a very expensive burglar alarm system in his house. He answered that he had met the most evil man there was. You guessed it, Osama Bin Laden. He explained to them that Osama hated the US and was going to do something evil. Congress laughed at him. Also, Saudia Arabia had Osama jailed twice and asked the US if they wanted him. Guess what our President (Clinton) the time said? It is an Election Year and we don’t want to deal with him right now. If Clinton would have dealt with it then, there would have been no 911. So as for Bush and the problems he had, he inherited them. He spent his time trying to clean up something that could have been avoided.

Nuclear technology was given to the Chinese for “humanitarian purposes” on Clinton’s watch. Why do I know this? Because I remember sitting in my living room listening to Clinton boasting about it. At the time I thought to myself, this is not good.
Clinton gave that “box of matches” to a two year old (aka China) and expected them to use it wisely. Now the entire planet is at risk. I pray that God will keep those mushroom from sprouting all over our planet.
Are we better off than in 2008? We are both supposed to be retired (my spouse is 80). We run two businesses out of the home. We grow as much of our own food as possible then I can, I dehydrate and I freeze the results. We are always searching for ways to conserve energy and become self sufficient but, still we cannot get out of debt. So much for the Golden Years. May God bless and preserve our nation.
