The truth about peak water
Editor’s note: check out Water4Patriots for our top choice of personal water filtration.
______________________
You’ve probably heard of peak oil. Basically peak oil looks like a bell curve and predicts declining oil production over time. As consumption outstrips the discovery of new reserves and the depletion of existing reserves, our oil resource will be consumed until it’s gone – and sooner than you would like to believe. The same thing is going on right now, in this country, with water. We are already getting desperate for clean, drinkable water in our great nation. Folks out west are already used to constant restrictions and surcharges for water use. The days of the big green lawn are history in those parts. And traditionally wet places like Georgia and the Southeast have seen drought conditions in recent years. We’re facing a water crisis like nothing we’ve ever seen. A recent study showed that worldwide 1.8 billion people will deal with water scarcity by the year 2025. And 1.5 billion more people will deal with poorly sanitized or just plain dirty water. Don’t kid of yourself, millions of those people will be right here in this country. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Peak_water Even before scarcity and depletion occur, you can bet the cost of water is going to skyrocket. Paying $3 for a bottle of water is going to be a pleasant but distant memory. We may see oil-like prices for water before you know it. And that’s before the government starts rationing water and reserving water sources for things like military operations, industry, and oil extraction (which is one of the most water intensive activities out there, ironically enough).
That’s why its necessary for you to take control of your water source just like you should take control of your energy source. You had better know how to capture, treat, and store water if you’re going to be prepared for the coming water crisis. And don’t think you won’t be affected if you live in an area of high rainfall or city water. Our water infrastructure is built on a foundation of quicksand and natural disaster, terrorist attack, or prolonged drought could bring the whole system to its knees. That might mean a water well on your property, or rain capture system, or storing surface water. Either way, it’s a good idea to think about taking your water source ‘off the grid’ just like you’ve done with everything else and figure out how you are going to ensure your family’s future. Whatever you do, get a plan together, and start putting in action. I guarantee you will never regret having a clean, private source of our most important natural resource.
Who has the best solar generator, the model 1500 patriot power generator at $1997.00 or the basic power whisperer at $3108.00. Anyone have experience with either one?
While peak oil may be a convenient analogy to explain the concept of peak water, just look at the oil glut and falling oil prices to tell you it is a bad analogy. Today, hardly anyone is talking peak oil due to falling prices due to oversupply.
” We may see oil-like prices for water before you know it” — you do realize that oil is much cheaper than water if $3 a bottle is what you pay for water?
One needs to be careful about the collection of water on your property since the government has claimed ownership of all rainwater or other water that enters your property. They are prosecuting people that collect water from their own properties. I’m not saying don’r do it, I’m saying do it carefully and make sure whatever you do is not obvious to outsiders! I have literally dozens of springs on my property. My water quality is so good that some people I know drive here from hundreds of miles away to fill up truckloads of 5 gallon water jugs. I freely share because God put this good water here for us to use. Drilled well water in this area is known to contain uranium because it is released from the rock when drilling. My spring water contains no uranium or other impurities.
I think it depends on what state you live in. Here in Florida, not a problem to collect your own rainwater. In fact the local water authority where I live gives away free rain water collection barrels once a year.
We still have water restrictions on what you can do with your own well water or rain water. E.g., can’t water your lawn except on approved days.
CAN I STORE WATER IN PLASTIC JUGS?
Yes, but try to ensure that the plastic does not contain harmful chemicals such as PBA that can leach into the water.
Currently here in central California, the last stronghold for conservative values, we’re facing the ominous reality that were not going to have water pretty soon. Tree farms are dieing and being pushed over. The lands are dry and farmers that supply this nation with a large percentage of food supplies has begun to not have the ability to do what God put them here because of the lack of water.
The cost to drop an existing well is no less than $100 a foot and many require redrilling an already 300 foot deep well to 600 feet if one could afford it.
All of that said and a little current events for those in the states that doesn’t put 2 as 2 together, your food costs are going to get scarcer and alot more expensive real soon.
With no rain and no ground water I’m not seeing any future home in ca. any longer
I am a prepper, just like most of the people writing into your website. I just know I will be fine when SHTF due to the fact that my competition can’t spell or proofread properly. Nothing gets my goat more than blatant mispelling without the least attempt to correct it. This really makes an educated person think that the writer is a little short in the IQ department. Jus sayin………………………..
I’ve learned in my life that just because someone isn’t academically gifted doesn’t mean that aren’t worth listening to.
Uh, you misspelled “mispelling”….. Just sayin’
HA! Hysterical, Bill838….nice catch on the “overly educated”……
How do you purify a larger amount of water than a glass of water? Like a 5 gal container or larger?
You can buy larger water purifiers. I’ve finally got mine ready and I should have it available to ya’ll in December. Keep your eyes out on your emails for the announcement.
God bless you– – God bless America
a few years ago i saw a program on a state owned station that showed people that had a large collection bin in their basement and all the water that didn’t go through the toilet was drained into it. that means sinks, washing machine and showers. then it was used for all the non-consumable things. i thought that was a smart idea back then!
G
If I buy the 5 gallon water containers like Culligan, etc at Sam’s club or fill up clean empty juice containers, do I still need to add bleach? Is that safe to drink? There were so many posts, I couldn’t relocate water the gallon/bleach ratio was. Thank you for being available to answer our questions. Another thing, where do I go to get a manual pump for my well, I dd read about the PVC part and will show that to my spouse. So Appreciative!
If you buy pre-packaged water, you will get the longest shelf life out of it by leaving it sealed. If you are filling your own containers, you will need to consider germs hiding in the etched plastic and any algae or bacteria swimming in your water source.
By the way, while surfing the web, I found an offer for 5 gallon Mylar water bag and box to hold it, first aid kit containing lots of cool stuff — bandages, gauze, scissors, etc. — and four heating cans for cooking. All this for less than three dollars.
Shop around. You don’t have to lay out big bucks to be safe and prepared.
Also, juice bottles are good for storing water. They fit nicely under bed. And if things are looking bad, fill up the bathtub!!! Work smarter, not harder.
6 drops of bleach per gallon of water… 12 if water is ”cloudy” as good as city water
I understand thar some States have had the gall and AUDICITY to outlaw the collection and gathering of rainwater. What states are these and WHO, gives them the right to enforce such a pathetically STUPID ruling?
To answer the question of what states pervent you from catching rain watwe, one of them is Colorado.
What kind of system is there to keep water flowing through barrels and in a disaster it will automatically shut down? You will have fresh water to start out with and won’t have to worry about purifying until a later date. This way you could have several large barrels fresh at all times.
Thank you Frank for your articles – but please add a print feature for those of us who want to save your articles
Go to the top of the page. On the right side, see that “f” next to an envelope, next to a little printer. Click on the printer. The A+ & A- make the font larger & smaller.
THIS DOES NOTHING FOR ME. I LIVE IN AN APARTMENT. THE CLOSES UNSALTED WATER IS AROUND THE CORNER AND IT A 25,000 GALLON WATER TANK. I THINK ITS FOR THE FIRE HYDRANTS. THEN EVERY ONE WILL BE MALLING EACHOTHER TO GET THE WATER.
I too live in a ten story apartment building. It has a flat roof. I happen to live in a corner apt. The roof storm drains are funneled down the corners of the building. When SHTF those pipes can be intercepted and collected. Also if you have a forward thinking building management they could be funneled into a cistern or under ground storage tank. It might even surprise you to find that a cistern may have already been installed to help prevent flooding problems in the municipality’s storm drainage sewer system. It can’t hurt to investigate that either. :D
ok so tell us how to save the water and to store it
gregg
Hi Frank enjoy your articles keep up the good work cheers
Does anyone know a good place to buy bulk water purification tablets I can use in my rain barrels? I am not looking to completely purify the water in the rain barrels for drinking. I have Aqua Pails for that if the need arises. I am looking to drop a few in when they fill up to kill any potential bacteria so when I use the water for the garden or to wash off my hands really quick when working in the yard, I am not getting any unwanted guests in my garden or on my hands. If anyone has any other options I should consider, please let me know. Thanks
There is always the cheap gallon bottles of generic unflavored/unscented chlorine bleach. Or stop by the pool/spa supply place near the end of summer and buy up their reduced price end of season specials of chlorine shock treatments and 5/10 gallon pails of chlorine treatment.

we have a well, and intend on setting a hand pump on it.
Do you have a plan that you can share with me, so I can see how to put a well in? Thanks and God Bless
Several places online sell hand well pumps. EZwell.com
handywell.com and flojak.com I purchased one for our well that can be installed when needed.
Plz share where to purchase a hand pump for a well. It seems to be a good idea to put solar on a well, also.
Or the old farm windmill powered pump into a concrete tank.
ezwell.com handywell.com flojak.com all sell hand pumps for wells. Some can be installed beside a submerged pump. Some can be installed after the fact in a deep or shallow well.
in a lot of places it is against the law to collect and store rain water !!! also in a lot of places it is against the law to drill a well without a permit !!!! many people have had their gardens cut down by cities !!! one man grew to much in his back yard !!! wonder if the NSA reported him ?? As for collecting rain water when on my land I will collect when I want too !! not so easy to drill a well that I would trust the water from by hand, around here needs to be at least 450 ft deep south Ga. !! as for garden I will plant any where I want to on my land, I do want a nice yard for grandson to play in. I will not plant where I need to drive my trucks, store and split my firewood. my garden is 30 – 100 foot rows keeps me very busy and lots of canning going on, oh kids come home for the sweet corn, Peach and Cream sweet corn is very good.
Hi Frank, Simple question, how much bleach or iodine per gallon for long term storage of water?
it depends on your water source and how clean your container is. Nashville metro tap water? None – it has plenty. If you use a clean water source you can just rinse your container with a strong bleach solution and whatever is left in your container is enough to prevent issues.
What is the most effective, and least expensive way to have a well in rocky hill country where the water is deep?
I agree with this articule .I am also concerned with those who cant afford the cost of labor and supplies to build this project .
Having water at any time is an essential for life. City dwellers must relay totally on their city to provide water for them at all times. You can fil your bath tub full, buy all the bottled water you can but it is all a finite resource. When it runs out you have no water.
Twenty seven hundred years ago in the Bible King Hezekiah understood this. This story is recorded in the Bible in 2 Chronicles 32:1-33 and in 2 Kings 18:13-20:21. He was attacked by the Assyrian King Sennacherib. Sennacherib attacked several cities in Judah before he came against Jerusalem. Hezekiah knew Sennacherib would eventually make his way to come to attack Jerusalem. Jerusalem had no spring, no source of water inside the city walls to hold out against a siege. Hezekiah knew that all of Jerusalem could fill every pot and cistern they had but when the water ran out they would have to open their gates and let the enemy in.
Hezekiah decided to do something about this. There was a spring outside Jerusalem’s walls. The King set two teams of men digging through solid limestone, one team at the spring and one team from inside the city walls. The two teams of men started digging 1,700 feet away from each other. They dug feverishly hoping to complete their tunnel before Sennacherib came against Jerusalem. The two teams of men digging had to meet their tunnel underground. it was a major engineering feat for the time. They finished it in time before Sennacherib came against Jerusalem. The Assyrians did not find the spring because Hezekiah ordered it to be covered up and hidden.
Today that tunnel still brings fresh water into the ancient part of Jerusalem. and it is fresh and drinkable.
The moral of the story; you can have all the water on hand that you can afford to buy but it will eventually run out. You need to be able to replenish it.
Wash out any jug you are planning to store water in with bleach. Plain bleach; Sodium Hydrochloride with no perfume or fresheners. after washing it out and making sure it is clean then put a cap full of bleach (several table spoons) into the container and fill it with water. Do not store the container on a damp cement floor as this may cause mold to grew inside the container. put something down on the cement floor like a piece of plywood or a rubber mat and put the bleach on top of it.
Bob M
thanks for the BIble story and your suggestions
Someone told me that to store water, one needs to add bleach to it. Can anyone confirm this and advise in what ratio?
Remember: Many of the people in the cities cannot hope to store water because they don’t have the means or the area needed to store it. Again,it will be something that you have that they want.
DON’T brag about your stockpiles.Don’t answer any survey questions on the subject when it comes to water,or food stockpiles. Many people these days think they can count on the government during a crises.A lot of people shop day to day and store nothing.People with money think they should come first and money can pay for anything.(Even, your posessions).Don’t make your dwelling look inviting.Tone down the appearance so as not to draw attention.Humble does not stand out as much as a place that says,’look what I got’.If you have to, create decoys that the a-holes can take.Troops assigned to confiscate your things will probably find everything, so store things in different places.Be prepared to leave at a moments notice.Don’t wait till the last minute. Also, stored water will probably need to be treated and kept enclosed to keep out the parasites.Water weighs 10 pounds per gallon and cannot be trasnsported in very large quantities. There will be gangs so Don’t count on good will or neighbourly sharing.Trust no one!
Why leave, where will you go? How will you live and were will you stay? Remember we all cany just leave. There ia not enough foos in the wild for billions off people.
After retiring from working for a municipal Environmental Laboratory, I know that “water rationing” is used as a way to sell more water. People use more water when it’s rationed. For most Cities, water is one of their biggest source of revenue.
Also, the most diliterious effect on our drinking water has been not just the fetrilizer/pesticides run off from GMO agriculture but endocrine disrupters that pass through our wastewater and drinking water treatment plants. Among the greatest endocrine disrupting contaminants are the Phenol “A”s, from plastics and birth control pills.
Recently the Ogallala Aquifer has been coming up with trace amounts of DDT. This is the largest aquifer in the country.
Filtering and Chlorination still won’t kill the Cryptosporidium “O” cysts either. It takes very few O cysts ingested to produce thousands times the amount of Cryptosporidium.
what WILL remove the DDT and “o” cysts?
Gheegirl: The whole story about DDT is a hoax as was the book “Silent Spring.” Some foreign countries buy DDT on the black market to kill the mosquitoes since they know it is effective and not harmful to humans. It’s the greens/globalist who want to control the population so they deny the use of DDT and thus, people die. Just another hoax/religion like global warming (oops, climate change) that the hucksters, like Al Gore, are making money from and scaring people. btw, any stories in the MSM cannot be trusted.
Gee Avery, you must live in one of those high rises. Here in the country it’s been two years since we saw a honey bee, and this year we have much fewer native bees. That’s the start of a silent spring. Sadly the book was not a hoax.
http://larouchepac.com/nawapaxxi/overviewlease see this Us Continental Water Scheme, which is already designed to expand to Eurasian and African Continents, but need strong support angainst powerful “New World Order” opposition. Please give widest publicity.
Thanks Norman Green-Price
thanks Norman…. Got the ides
I tried to access the link you gave, but it’s already been taken off the internet!
This is so important, I can hardly sleep some times. What can I do, someone who
lives in a low income apt. building, with nothing to save water in, or even a filter for
my faucet? I have one of those little containers that have a water filter built in it…
I am very interested in learning more about this…..thank you!
I collect and store over 400 gallons of water from a 4in. gutter attached to my metal pole barn here in Northern Illinois. I keep it in those white plastic barrels you see at factories, etc. Find a food processing plant in your area and get those barrels, as opposed to a factory that gets chemicals delivered in them. I found a plant that regularly gets white vinegar delivered in those barrels, so I know mine are relatively clean. Pay the maintenance guy from $10 to $15 each, or a better deal for a larger buy. I once helped the guy stack over 40 empty barrels and he sold me three more for $5 each, so make your own deal. You must cover your water, mostly to keep tree pollen and other airborne particles out. Also keeps them from becoming mosquito breeders. My water collected in the early spring is crystal clear all season long. It is easily filtered for drinking if necessary, but I use it mostly for vegetable gardening.
Great stuff Frank! Keep us informed, man, you’re doing us all a huge favor! Dale.
Anybody have a plan, (schematic) for the capture of rainwater
popzi
There are lots of good ideas all across the internet with some even showing detailed plans. Just simply google it. :-)
Good idea to store rain water.
i’m trying to work to — not be scared– Jesse ventura had those conspiracy theory shows
about China or Japan siphoning our water supplies to sell it back to us with drugs to make
us tranquil… pretty spooky … thus why i’m listening to you thx
WHEN I LIVED IN OREGON THERE WERE LARGE FORESTS ALL AROUND US. THE HUGE TREES KEPT THE AREA FULL OF WATER. THEN THE JAPANEES CAME IN AND STARTED CUTTING DOWN THE TREES AMD TAKING THEM TO JAPAN ON HUGE SHIPS. OUR GOVERMENT HAD SOLD THE FOREST CUTTING RIGHTS TO JAPAN, MOST OF THE REGULATED CUTTING SAW MILLS WENT OUT OF BUSINESS BECAUSE THE JAPANESE DID NOT SPOT CUT THEY JUST CAME IN AND TOOK ALL THE TREES AND LEFT ONLY 30 FEET OF TREES BY THE HIGHWAYS SO PEOPLE COULD NOT SEE WHAT WAS GOING ON BEHIND THE TREES. THE PLANTED OTHER TREES OF 2 FOOT SIZE EVERY 10 FEET BUT IT TAKES TIME FOR THE TREES TO GROW TO LARGE TREES. I HAD A TREE FARM THERE FOR 25 YEARS THE TREES THAT I PLANTED IN 1979 WERE ONLY ABOUT FIFTY FEET TALL WHEN I SOLD THE FARM AND THEY WILL NOT BE READY FOR TRUE HARVEST FOR ANOTHE 25 YEARS. IT TAKES TREES AT LEAST 50 YEARS TO BECOME THE SIZE OF THE TREES THAT WERE SOLD TO THE JAPANESE BY OUR OWN GOVERNMENT. THEY DID NOT ASK THE PEOPLE OF OREGON IF THEY COULD SELL THE TREES THEY JUST DID IT. THE OREGON MILLS SPOT CUT THE TREES. THIS LEFT LOTS OF LARGE TREES STILL STANDING TO SHADE THE SMALL TREES THAT WERE PLANTED TO REPLACE THE HARVESTED TREES. THEY PLANTED 10 TREES FOR EVERY TREE THEY TOOL. THEY THINED THE FOREST . THIS WAS GOOD FOR THE FOREST BECAUSE IT LET IN SOME SUNLIGHT THAT STOPED TREE ROT FROM SETTING IN. BUT CLEAN CUTTING IS VERY BAD AS NO TREES ARE LEFT TO HARVEST AND THE LITTLE TREES DO NOT HAVE THE SHADE FROM THE LARGER TREES THAT EVERGREEN TREES NEED. IT CUTS DOWN ON THE GROWTH OF THE LITTLE TREES BY YEARS. IT PUTS MILL WORKERS OUT OF WORK AND IT PUTS MILLS OUT OF BUSINESS. THE MILLES IN OREGON WERE SHUTTING DOWN AFTER OUR TREES WERE SOLD OUT FROM UNDER OREGON BY THE GOVERNMENT. ONLY THE BIGEST MILLS THAT WERE OWNED BY PRIVATE LAND OWNERS WERE LEFT. HUNDREDS OF LOGGERS AND MILL WORKERS LOST THEIR JOBS THEIR HOMES AND SUFFERED OVER THIS.THE SAME THING HAPPENED TO OUR OREGON FISHERMEN OUR GOVERNMENT LET THE JAPANESE INTO OUR WATERS AND DID NOT REGULATE THE SIZE OF THE CATCHES UNTILL THERE WERE NO FISH LEFT FOR OUR OWN FISHERMEN TO CATCH. THE FISH PLANTS CLOSED DOWN THE FISHERMEN LOST THEIR SHIPS THEIR HOMES AND JOBS.THANKS TO OUR GOVERNMENT SELLING THEM THE RIGHTS TO FISH OUR TERRITEROAL WATERS. WE ARE NOT LOOSING OUR RESORSES THEY ARE BEING BOUGHT OUT FROM UNDER US. WE ARE CAREFUL WITH OUR RESORSES WE FOLLOW THE REGULATIONS. BUT WHEN OUR GOVERNMENT SELLS RIGHTS FOR FOREIGN CONTRIES TO COME IN AND SCALP OUT OUR RESORCES THEY ARE GONE. NOW OBAMA HAS SOLD OIL RIGHTS TO CHINA IN TEXAS OIL FIELDS, CALIFORNIA,NABRASKA AND A COUPLE OF OTHER STATES, OUR OWN GOVERNMENT IS SHUTTING US DOWN. IT TAKES WATER TO RUN THESE OPERATIONS. OUR WATER IS BEING USED OUT FROM UNDER US BY FOEREIGN COUNTRIES. THEY PAID FOR THE RIGHT TO USE UP OUR RESOURCES TO OUR GOVERNMENT OFFICIALS BECAUSE THEY WASTE OUR TAX DOLLARS AND SELL OFF OUR RECORCES TO COVER UP THEIR WASTE.
Hi Frank
Yes water is a people controlling factor in our future, I read through the comments and many of these people are on what appears to be a correct tract of answers. One offered we are using the technology of 1937. Well I am from that era, and I remember water was the necessary item back then as to whether you stayed or left the area. Of coarse we did not have so many people all using the resources up either. But wells were hand dug, (no drillers back then) crude hand wenches were built and water buckets were the common thing in rural areas. Old foot valves were made from what ever we had, like leather and rubber from tire tubes. People knew how to kill and butcher there food and raise the gardens. Oil lamps and candles were used we did not have electricity until I was about eight or nine years old. Cement and pavement did not cover our hillsides and flats as it does now. So the leaves and dead grasses held our surface water longer. I see a huge need for desalination of sea waters as this technology is already available just not used because of the expense. However when it is used the water price factor will certainly go up. The heat transferring will continue to mess up the natural weather patterns and the new people will need to find ways to cope with that. Mankind will survive until we get so smart we kill ourselves off with the new age thinking that is sure to follow. Yes the large water users will draw down the aquifers and water will be deeper, so the shallow wells will dry up.. However man kind will do what we always do that is survive with new technology and new thinking. You younger people will need to learn how to keep the hungry and mean people from harvesting your gardens, eating the chicken and your dogs, horses, cows and so forth. I’ll be gone with all my 1937 technology, but you will survive and teach the next bunch how to make a go of it too. I suppose someday some smart kid will say about us, People were sure dumb back then, everyone knows to make water you need one atom of hydrogen and two atoms of oxygen, and I suppose he will be selling water making machines ran on solar cells for you personal home use. Old Hugh
If you truly want to have water for your family, consider a closed system ecology on your land. Recycle the water with aquaponic systems, and feed your family at the same time.
1.Water is not a renewable resource!! If you take the water out of an ecological system and stick it in water bottles, where does it go?
2. Definitely not back into your system!! It goes to where the companies can make the most money selling the bottles. Usually in a big city on the shore of a large body of water.
3. Ultimately, that water goes down a drain in one way or another. And then out to the ocean. If you’re really lucky, that water might come back to your area as rain. But don’t count on it!!
4. The water has been displaced to another ecological system. And your wells are drying up!! 5.That is why there is a water shortage in the mid-western United States. The Agri-corporations are taking the water out of the ground upstream and it isn’t getting down river!!
6. And then we have big oil taking the water and polluting it to an unusable state!
7. Never mind all the industrial companies using the water and polluting it! Every large manufacturing plant requires tremendous amounts of water!
Do the research!! See where the water is really going!!
or you can live downstream of a larger town and they suck the water out of the river/creek for their use, to heck with the people downstream!
Frank – I live in the desert southwest (Las Vegas) and needless to say having water would be difficult at best in an emergency situation. Can be six to ten months or more for rain to come. I live relatively close to Lake Mead, but so do 2 million other people. Give me some ideas about obtaining water for my family.
check out the “simple pump” for hand, solar or wind powered well water. If you already have a well, one will fit in your well casing without having to first remove your electric pump, so you can use it when you need it, or dig a new well, and install it there.
Another site worth checking out for all things non-electric (including other manual pumps) is https://www.lehmans.com
I am a satisfied customer of both companies.
I suggest that IF you can drill a well and you have land, you do so. Around here it’s about $5,000 for the well, regenerated, casing and pump, ready to deliver. There are plenty of people that have driven or drilled their own well though, so do the research. Even in areas that it’s ‘illegal’ to drill your own well, if the water table is less than a 100 feet down, and you don’t have to go through bedrock to get there, I’d drill my own anyway. Might do it in a shed, so the drones can’t watch you, but it’s YOUR land and YOUR mineral rights. (In my humble opinion) I happen to live in a major river valley, with about 100 ft of glacier tailings under my little plot, so I have a pretty good source till the river starts to dry up. However all the major water companies in the region also have sunk wells with 200HP pumps to keep the rest of the area in cheap water, so it conceivable the aquifer level could drop. I know in Gulf Coast Texas, when I left in the early ’80s, you had to have a well permit because of the subsidence issue. Even where I live the county requires a permit, but I believe it’s more for ‘safety’ than other issues. The next thing is, power to operate your well, OR making sure that you can rig a manual pump. Look on the net, there are plans and videos on how to build manual pumps with off the shelf parts from the local hardware or big box store.
Hi i do have a well on my property but i live on Vancouver Island…im interested in selling water but shipping costs seem astronomical… is it worth it for me … or would it be worth bottleing for distribution… who would be interested?… im will to listen to proposals… i have offered water to local farmers who have run dry in the past year, they have made it thru and improved there cysterns and not growing as much… would any body be interested in partnering up with me to send to the US or abroad… its beutiful artisian water 1-2 gallons per minute… City tells me they have no issues with me takeing from and unknown reserve at this time….thanks gary
Your conjecture about what clean water in the future will be like is correct; just look at the dead zone in the Gulf of Mexico, or middle and northern Eastern Europe as examples of what is happening, and less than 5% of the Americans even know of its happen stance.
1) We need to understand that the two brains in a brontosaurus are only indigenous to their species; and that we as humans, do not have a brain in our butt.
2) Then we need to rational what has happen, while focusing onto what can be done to change the future.
3) We need to consider all facts, ever too recognize that our I-highways have a major affect on natural downdrafts and up-drafts through out our country; which in return affect our weather.
4) Most of the continuous centrifuges at present are using 1937 technology, and with a little R&D, we could refine salt water, producing clean water with salt and all the other raw elements and compounds composites in the earth oceans; including cleaning up the dead zone off the coast of New Orleans in the Gulf of Mexico.
5) All in all, the outcome does not have to be glum, if our thoughts are redesigned with a more mature thinking.
Thank you,
Ralph Rountree
I live in an area where it not legal to dig a well or collect rain or snow runoff for personal use!!
As with everything else, we are loosing ground very fast. Water is being used in an abundance for things that are not necessary. I may never see a real disasterous water shortage considering my present age (65) but my children and grand children certainly will.
Any water supply we have should be conserved and people should be taught how to protect water that is left and make sure it is safe for consumption.
Personally, I would like to see some sort of huge sea water conversation and storage for future use by people. I see governmental enities misusing water all the time. Citizens are required to use water spareinly while the government facilities use the water very lavishly. Their grass and shrubs must be green and beautiful while the citizens yards stay dry and in most casts dead. It is a shame the government can splurge with the water supply the way they do.
You forgot to include water parks and all the big beautiful water fountains. I live in texas and have been on restriction for use of water since I have been here but I still see adds for these parks. Got’ta keep these big businesses in the money.
We have a somewhat different problem from most folks. Plenty of Potable Water year round – well water. Unlimited Irrigation water from the Snake River (Middle Fork). Problem is Storing it – Warm weather – All you need is Shade. Now Cold weather – That is a big Problem – Freeze Problem – busted barrels. Could use underground storage – below 2 foot frost depth – lots of work and cost. Could build a Well-insulated Shed with a wood stove in the center – keep the barrels in that. I keep the drinking/ cooking water carefully clean and separate. Wash water, commode flush, bath water – don’t worry so much about that. Would like to hear what folks think – better ideas anyone ?
pwehaps you could supply suppliers for good water catchments or how to set them up and where they are allowed? TY
i want to jopin but i don’t have a creditcard. so tell me how . thanks for being a true patriot.
Merry Christmas

EXTENSIVE PIPE LINES ARE VERY EXPENSIVE TO CONSTRUCT. THAT IS WHAT WE ARE FACING WHEN TH SCIENTIST DISCOVER THAT DESALINATION IS THE ONLY HOPE FOR SUPPLYING THE WORLD WITH DRINKABLE WATER. STUDY THIS PROCESS, PREPARE FOR THE CHANGE-OVER PROCESSES,, IT WON’T BE EASY TO DEAL WITH. DO WHAT YOU CAN TO PREVENT BEING DEPENDENT . IF YA CAN (FINANCIALLY) HAVE A WELL DUG THEN HAVE IT TESTED FOR SAFETY. THE LARGER THE DIAMETER OF TH WELL TH MORE VERSATILE IT WILL BE. AS OUR BOY SCOUTS WOULD SAY– ” BE PREPARED “
Right on water is our most needed possession!.
As far as water storage is concerned, I am a self-employed housekeeper who has some Mormon clients and they take empty jugs of bleach and store water in those. They make sure to include 1 tsp. of bleach in each jug for preservation. What scares me is that I live in a modular home with no room for food and water storage.
Liked the article, I do believe that water ,clean water, will be worth more than gasoline in the future. How long that is unknown. Liked the article on the backyard still and will probably try to make one. What is the correct container to store water, where do you store it and for how long. Those items were not discussed. Could use the info. Great article.
The non electric way to use the well is with a drilled well bucket. Simply use a leanth of pvc pipe with holes drilled at the top for a rope and a check valve at the bottom. Size of bucket will be what will fit your well casting with the pipes from the pump still in there. Rase pump up and tie off to the side. A pulley in the rafters is nice. Be sure to tie rope topside, hard to get out when you drop it in.
If you have a well that supplies water by electric pump, you can usually incorparate a hand operated water pump for back-up
recycling is great also..ideas i use
is to NOT allow the bath water to go down the drain. i fill 5 gallon containers and use it on plants when it’s dry here. AND..it can be used to wash clothes also.. after all the soap in it is good for the plants (deters pests) and helps save on laundry detergent, if you use it that way.
We are on well water and last time we had a power outage due to a storm, we connected our generator which is operated on gas. What other way is there to operate a well when the power goes out?
Gloria, you are so right-greed has gone too far!
‘Only after the last tree has been cut down,
Only after the last river has been poisoned,
Only after the last fish has been caught,
Only then will people find that money cannot be eaten.’
A Cree Native Prophecy
In countries like Colombia, is normal to store water in tanks from streams, and rivers to suply the farms, with the much needed liquid. Why we don’t do it in the states?
Other source is rain water although in the states we have plenty of acid rain…
the culprit in the drying up of the sources is ourselves as we take the forests and do not replant the trees. If people look at the pictures from the amazon jungles comparing the pictures from the space since the 60’s maybe we will not be so greedy. Although the goverment do not seem to care much and allowes the companies to exploit the planet to extintion.
